It's clear the little feller has got his mojo back.

Second season syndrome consigned to the dustbin and we move on to better things.

Second season syndrome.

Second Season Syndrome. Anyone with any sense could see it.

Doesn't feel like that, tbh.

Second season syndrome.

The player performances are a lot to do with this season, agreed.

I know some think it's a wind up, but there is something to the notion of second season syndrome at play here. These players had it all to prove last season and rose to the challenge. They had a lot of good press and praise from 'the experts'. They just didn't put the hard yards in this season - as said, the gear change between Europe and domestic workload was a tough one, but they need to look to their own application of effort also.

You know what that is dont you? Journo's briefed to back Roberto and put the second season syndrome narrative out there. Typical Bill that.

And it has the added beauty of being true too.

Lol...if, if if, if.

They're 6 points behind with massive GD behind us. They aren't capable of winning 7 points, imo.

Bottom three now are bottom at the finish in all likelihood.

Stop worrying.

Let's just get this second season syndrome out of the way and crack on next season.

It's second season syndrome.

8 months ago...history.

Lol.

It's because it was just a short space of time ago that Martinez has leeway to see out this second season syndrome.

Hard lines there.

Decent point in the end.

Second season syndrome eh? Doing me head in.

It's second season syndrome. Learn from it and move on. :coffee:

Second season syndrome. We'll put pressure on 4th spot next season. It'll be valuable experience for Martinez getting through this poor season. It's just a pity we didn't get Davie Weir or Ralf Rangnick though. We'd be on the verge of our second successive title by now.

Second season syndrome with Roberto. Sherwood suffers from first season syndrome.

The central defence needs sorting out once and for all in the summer. That's the rock a Martinez team will be built on.

It's defo second season syndrome too.

Oh dear.

Seriously though, the vast majority accept the reality of second season syndrome and that we need to look forward now to season three under Roberto.

It's pretty much over for this debate apart from a bit of chat that's falling upon deaf ears.

That isn't happening. I think those desperately wanting this Everton manager to get the sack know they'll come up empty handed and are becoming a bit abusive.

It's a shame, but there you have it.

Never mind. This will all be seen as second season syndrome in time and we'll march on united together.

Most people accept and get second season syndrome. Why dont you do yourself a favour and settle back for it to be over. Martinez is not going anywhere, so cut your losses.

Second season syndrome.

We'll need this summer for a big clear out.

Club management: It's Kenwright's fault.
Team management: It's second season syndrome.
Players: These cowards need to start rewarding a manager who's gone out of his way to protect them.

Exactly mate. This season is a write off - typical second season syndrome. It's not nice to endure, but there you go, that's just life at an under funded football club.

We'll do well in these cups that we have left and be well safe mid-table

It's all about next season now for me.

I'm looking at this as typical second season syndrome.

Martinez has this one as a freebie to get all wrong. I'm sure the board see it that way too (as long as we're not dancing on the trapdoor that is).

Martinez needs to steady the ship and get the next two transfer windows right and prove himself again in season three.

I can see RM suffering second season syndrome. He's charmed everyone and worked well on a deficit budget. The bigger workload now though will stretch the squad we'll likely start with and stretch patience with it when/if we suffer a dip in form.

I'm fully expecting second season syndrome. A poorish season on the back of signing a load of tosh for the Europa League.

So what is it this season @davek ?

Abridged edition: It's third season syndrome.

Totally agree.

After 454 pages this is now a Landslide Martinez out vote (i voted stay but about to change)

I've just about had enough of this regime now..

I now beg the question WHEN ?

NOW? International break , players away on duty .

Or a stay of execution ?

Two weeks til Man utd away.

One month away from FA cup semi final.

Or after whatever the cup results are , or end of season.

For what its worth I say change now ,it could be irreparable damage if this continues.

Haha yesterday you complained about the "plotters" quoting pundits who were criticising Everton

Now you're posting about the one commentator who remotely doesn't blame Martinez

You have low standards if you think playing decent football is enough.

He's had 2 years to fix the defence and failed. He's turned a £40m CB into a £5m max defender. Ruined jags, Coleman and baines. and now you want to let the man who thought Titus Bramble should be playing for England spend millions on defenders. Wake up

He did also bramble was as good as ferdinand and Terry and also said cattlemore was a "one in a million, a true leader"

*shakes head

It is the cold truth: Martinez is not good enough, he does not have the necessary skills.

12 months ago, from the then board's point of view, that wasn't very important though. Their lack of ambition meant they were happy as long as relegation didn't look likely, and mid-table mediocity would have been fine as far as they were concerned.

If that board was still in place, Martinez's job would be very safe. They aren't, so the goalposts have moved.

NSNO, it's on it's way back.

He's obviously not leaving before the end of the season

Once the season is over though, regardless of whether we win the cup or not, I hope the club hierarchy have a proper evaluation of him and weight up their options

Our defending still isn't good enough

We need a top level goalkeeper, a proper LM and a brand new defensive coach

If in the summer he sorts all three of those issues, I'm happy for him to stick around

If he just sorts two of them, we may be all right. For instance, if we have a great keeper then it might offset how awful Martinez and his coaching staff are at organising the defence.

If he sorts those issues, I genuinely think we'll be a force next season, with him at the helm stewarding it

He has to check his ego at the door, realise the holes in his game and correct them

If he does that, all the other teams need to be put on notice, because Everton are coming back!
I am here. Serious review and then on death watch unless there is systemic change in home performance and defense. If he were fired in summer, would not be surprised or upset. But a replacement that will build on his positives is key. Still hoping (rather than expecting) him to turn it around. Still in or on the fence.

What's needed here is a big pair of bollox. Martinez must be shown the door NOW along with his [Poor language removed] coaching staff. Big Dunc will lead us to FA cup glory and we can get a proper manager in during the summer.

Difficult to justify why he should stay now, as it looks like we'll finish comfortably in the bottom half of the table.
His strength appears to be in spotting talent and recruiting both young and experienced players.
Perhaps he should be made our chief scout?

O'keefe, Scott, McNulty, Custis, Cross, Collymore, Savage, Green, Fletcher, Barton, Durham, Merson, Barton, King, Barrett, Prentice. Have all had well documented and accurate Digs at him in the past few months, our own chairman has even had to come out and publicly defend him, was that because of Fans forum pressure? Or because of the media criticisms? I'd suggest the latter, something must have forced Kenwrights hand. Even you @davek aren't as forcful as you once were, although that's because Martinez has individually unloaded your gun, then taken it off you, then given you a potato gun (metaphorical nonsense).

Martinez is getting away with it because of 2 things the cup run and all the stuff that's gone on at other clubs such as City/Pep, UTD/LVG, Liverpool/Irish Martinez, Spurs potentially winning the league, Leicester potentially winning the league and your standard Arsenal fan Wenger fume.

Don't dismiss Evertonians angst at Martinez because it hasn't had much media attention yet every time a public figure speaks out against him you go on to slander said public figure without any regard for the content of the criticism.
