For me the 'one off' comments are a bit laughable. After the Lord Mayor's parade and all that. Shows he refuses to see reality.

But also his 'I'm trying to build a football club' comments also shows something else - a small club mentality on his part. We don't need to be built, we are already a big club thanks. He can say he's a winner all he likes, he isn't big enough for us judging by these remarks.

For all his posturing, I'm afraid it seems to me (lately) that he just doesn't see things the way everyone else does. For all his talk of changing to a winning mentality (admirable), he's fostering a losing one.
Taken a giant jump off that fence mate? :)

My gut feeling is that Roberto Martinez is untouchable at Everton because Kenwright loves him.

He might indeed love him Ijjy, but if this was one of his stage productions, El Bob would have been gone long ago.
BK is ruthless in the theatre world, nobody gets more time than BK deems necessary - so why he seems to persevere so long with El Bob is baffling.
If Saturday had been the first night of an Everton stage show in the west end, they'd now be cancelled !!!!

If BK sees us as a theatre production then it would explain a hell of a lot.

So much seems to hinge on whether we win the cup or not. Problem is that we're equally likely to be taken apart by manure or the hammers in the semis as we are to win. And that is martinez major flaw.... even under Moyes we were able to gather momentum for a run of games. Under martinez it's like Russian lottery as to what type of performance we see and the ability of the management and players to out - compete the opposition AND get a positive result. (n)

Of course he isn't Bill is too sweet and sentimental for that. Don't mean we can't debate the hell out of it though! We still flop the remaining home games the board will hear the discontent far more loudly. If he can sort the whole winning games thing out, we'd love him again cos he's lovely fella who has helped bring the club closer to the fans and foster the relations with the community. But essentially he's been crap at the actual main point of his job.
It's definitely the main part of his job but strangely enough it's also the one he can do the least to guarantee. The best managers in the world can end up with a group of players who just won't play for them. As the excellent Dammed United proved. Similarly run of the mill managers can stumble across a team that just knows how to play together. Obviously you can lay all the ground work but you can't get out there and sort it.
I still think Martinez will turn out to have been a positive thing for this club. And if I was chairman I'd have been massively kneejerk and sacked him last January.
I think how long his own tenure lasts will revolve around the players themselves developing a winning mentality. None of us would have wanted any of the Leicester squad and I think Rainieri has been a breath of fresh air but massively lucky too.

He's not actually going anywhere though is he?

With all the polls, and hatred growing against him, he's not actually going to be sacked.

We're the only ones witnessing the rage because it's localised on forums like these. I don't think it represents the wider picture.

That being said, we have no idea what this new owner of ours is like. I made a prediction yesterday that Martinez would be here next year regardless, but that was actually quite silly. We don't know this chap's values or what his aims are. Hopefully, this season ends with us lifting the cup and Martinez getting another go next year.

It's because it's only polls and opinions.
Nobody is right or wrong. Nothing said in here is going to have any bearing on the club itself.

What's funny at times is when opinions are then tried to be put over as facts, for or against.

I stopped contributing to the argument a while ago as it's gone beyond a discussion recently. Don't get me wrong it's what this thread should be for but people getting derided for just having an opinion is a bit much in my eyes.

I think the comparisons of their respective performances in their first few seasons are perfectly relevant. It serves to highlight just how poorly RM is doing when framed against the team Moyes inherited.
Fair enough, I'm just fed up to the back teeth of hearing about Moyes, and Martinez for that matter, but I'll have to put up with that for a while longer yet unfortunately.

Most fans are not satisfied. 21 wins in 67 matches. Will they be happy? Doubt it.

From a number of family members in the acting world, they suggest that prior to Mr.Moshiri arriving on the scene, BK did/does indeed appear to operate the club as a stage production... with as minimal investment and expenditure as possible.
The crazy aspect is that El Bob and even Moyesy beforehand had oodles of time for 'rehearsals' to get things right - some of his stage shows get as little as three weeks (!!!!) for rehearsals before opening their doors to the public.

It's the same points over and over. With a few more insults thrown in with each loss. People need to relax, Roberto has assembled a class team and there's still loads to play for. Assess at the end of the season.

I don't think the players aren't 'playing' for him, but he can't seem to get the best out of them, or motivate them enough to give it all on the pitch. Moyes could but not quite for a whole season but a calendar year which was weird. (Recall , that some of our yearly form would be enough to have us near the top of the table). Ranieri has been extremely lucky but I think the pure perspiration by every member of that squad ensures that. At the match I often look at the midfield and feel they just don't graft enough. Sorry went off on a tangent here. (Nightshifts. .)
