I do hope so mate.

If in 12months we sit on top of the table, with "The Entertainers" label replaced with the "Martinezs invincibles" I will gladly eat as much humble pie as you can serve.

*waits*
I agree. I'm not his biggest fan at the monent but if he turns it round then great.

I've nothing personal against the man.

Of course, but when you look at the list of players I listed on the last page though, you realise Martinez has a long way to go before even coming close, if he even gets that long.
This is true but with Lukaku, Deulofeu, Barry, McCarthy (and possibly Funes Mori), he's having a good crack at the market.

This is a fair point.

How? Our expectations have remained exactly the same as they were under Moyes - 7th/8th as par for the course, but we should be pushing continental spots.

Martinez has fell well below even those modest expectations for two years running, and he hasn't built up the good will Moyes did for his first five years here to get away with it.

If he shows he has an eye for a bargain and can make a profit on them then you can compare I guess. The nice problem is that now we don't need to sell so won't be in that situation again :)

You could literally start another thread on the Martinez vs Moyes debate and it could go on indefinitely without ever getting a result.

Looking at the stats, In Martinez's first season we had the most clean sheets in our premier league history. This season we are scoring for fun.

It proves he is our best defensive manager when he wants, and our best offensive manager. He needs patience, because he will get the balance right next season or the one after. Especially, with the 150 million warchest and a preseason for Niasse.

We will be on fire.

Ok, Martinez found us in a better position than Moyes did. Moyes found us in a position akin to when Joe Royle came - we were happy to stay up.

Now we expect more. Come to think of it, perhaps it was indeed Moyes finishing top 7 consistently that raised our expectations?

Yes. And what a nice (potential, it's not summer yet) position to be in finally.
