I'm not bothered about convincing a lynch mob, but consistency does matter. And my consistency on Martinez is unimpeachable...and still is, despite toe curling attempts to trip me up on it.

I haven't seen you asking the questions about him that you promised

you may bring up the relatively easy cup runs we had but at least you can stop mentioning 72 points as even you had no doubt that his league performance wasn't remotely good enough after season one so we are all on the same page

What constitutes a good cup run? And why is winning it not the only thing that matters any more?

Moyes got to 2 semis and a final and is still considered to be a regular big game bottler that was useless in the cups, so one would assume there is only one cup outcome in which Martinez could be deemed to of had anything but another very poor season.

Lynch mob. Love it.

The majority of people look at the league position and see how Roberto is failing.

This doesn't agree with your narrow view based on 1 season 2 years ago and you write them all off as a lynch mob.

It would be very hard to justify sacking him if we won the Cup to be honest

You never know though, both the Club and Martinez might see it as an opportunity to part on good terms

Martinez gets another FA Cup on his CV and can get another job elsewhere, and the club can wish him well and start looking at a replacement

I'd be shocked if RM was sacked if we won the FA cup to be honest. I can't see Bill wanting to and the cup win would be enough for him to persuade Moshiri to hold off.

To be honest, if we lose the semi and the season continues to peter out with performances like the Arsenal game then I think that is the only situation he is at risk.

The table could look very unsatisfactory by the end of Sunday if things do not go our way.

Potentially, I can't see Bournemouth beating City or Watford beating Arsenal but you never know. Swansea could beat stoke and go ahead of us if we lose.

Enjoyed the presser. I think it's likely RM has had meetings with Moshiri during the international break, makes sense with his (probably exaggerated) "we can compete with anyone" comments. He's clearly been given backing and I would imagine transfer targets were part of the planning.

Lukaku will go and deservedly so. We aren't the pinaccle for anyone...yet...And he should go with our best wishes.

Liked his comments on Stones - "he HAS to learn".

I fancy us against Utd this weekend, for what it's worth.

That sounds perfectly plausible to me, Mikey.

In my view, it is the league results which will determine where he is next season rather than the Cup.

If focus in the league is totally lost in the weeks leading up to Wembley serious questions will need to asked at the highest levels of the club as to whether Bob the man for the job.

He needs to be winning six or seven of these last nine games to A) achieve a decent final placing in the league..... B) build up momentum in the run up to the semi final and hopefully the final itself ......and C) to restore some faith among the fans, most put of whom are wondering where the next league win is coming from.

For the record, I don't see that happening :(

And I will go one further.....if we are treated to a repeat of the Arsenal fiasco over the next two or three games, I think Bobby will not be in charge by the time we go to the Pit and Wembley.

An indifferent or an average finish to the league however will not save his job, even if we win the Cup IMO.

Groucho, hope you have seen my further replies- Cheese constantly states the fans are toxic, he wants Martinez out because of this and this only, and has repeatedly posted this throughout the thread. I pulled him up on it.
I understand that, but some other foreign members did not, you see.

Just one to bear in mind for future.

;)
