And yet both Swansea and Wigan were desperate to keep him. And Liverpool desperate to get hold of him. That's a lot of people who didn't see what's apparently obvious

...that, m'friend, works for both camps I'm afraid.

I think you may not fully appreciate the slant taken by some...it's not that people doubt his potential, that much is apparent... it's that he seems NOT to learn from mistakes made both then (WIG) and now. That, simply, cannot really be challenged when we fall at the same fences almost on repeat. And it's because of this repetition that faith has been tested, you knew how the CV read when he arrived, you knew what his failings were. And myself, like many, hoped this would be addressed in time. And post the wonderous and all groovy 72...well, they haven't been have they...we are still prone...we have back-tracked and are lagging...let's think about that, he has taken a squad backwards that he's actually (so it's said) improved? How can that be? You (not you like) simply cannot say that this isn't a trait inherent of the manager. It is, the numbers tell us so...

Can he change? Who knows...but he's leaving it late for himself because the pressure will mount. Personally I think he's more than aware of this now...

...and as @GrandOldTeam has stated, there is little wrong with the comments he's made today, not really. They are pro-active to a point and, as per, are positive...the prob with some of us I feel is that it just all becomes flannel now with him, whether it's good stuff or not, it's by-the-by because it's him delivering it and so many now switch off and go 'Pfffff....and what?'

Still, a result on Sunday may see an ease in feeling eh...

So two championship clubs were desperate to keep him. that sounds about right

What's apparently obvious is that we're 12th in the table and he took Wigan to the Championship.
It's still not exactly like he's been a constant failure throughout his managerial career is it, as was implied in the post. You may think he's at the wrong club now but why rewrite everything.

Handled the question pretty well up until the point he 'does a Martinez' we can financially compete against any club in the world - well it's blatantly untrue and makes everything else he says in the interview look dubious by the presence of that prior statement, can we compete with PSG, Madrid, Barca, City to name just 4 teams on wages, on money spent on players - blatantly we can't.

he needs to leave the hyperbole alone and speak in more realistic terms else he just comes across as deluded and that statment today will be used to ridicule him especially the next time a player joins the likes of West Ham because they outbid or outpaid in wages what we offered.

Also now every single target we go after has just increased the asking clubs valuation by x %

Respectfully mate, what's been rewritten? One simply cannot rewrite what is factual...

I think every manager has turned up with doubts hanging over him. And to be honest the only one who didn't in terms of reputation was Walter Smith, who just never looked like a fit. My point is he can be judged on time here. And none of us know enough about the ins and outs of his time before to throw this into the mix. Or put it another way, I don't care about Wigan
