Respectfully mate, what's been rewritten? One simply cannot rewrite what is factual...
I'm not going back to look at it but unless I misread the post said something about this going on for ten years. And whatever went on before he got here it clearly wasn't viewed as a huge problem to most observers within the game. In fact when we employed him I remember feeling I was being cynical for having doubts such was the positive rep

...I know mate, amazing really, all the pozzy about a manager who'd just relegated a team yet felt he wasn't the man to bring them back up?!?!?!?

Maybe our FABRIC simply states that we ARE just a club happy to go on the odd little cup run after all, perhaps that was the basis for his employ...

Or Wigan had gone as far as they could. To be honest their time at the top was a miracle almost on a par with Leicester this year, and anyone involved in keeping them competitive for any period deserves some credit. It just didn't give me much sense of Martinez one way or another

Steve Bruce and Paul Jewell must be amongst the best managers of all time if they got Wigan to finish 11th.

FFS this thread is out of control and should be closed until the season is finished and judge him them. It's not impossible that were in top 7 and won the FA cup which and be honest would you have not taken that in August? Clear errors at Home are agreed but don't judge until the last ball is kicked - it just might be a Lakaku winner in May and 21 years is finally over.

As has been said before people are entitled to voice their opinion but nobody is forced to read it.

And 7th while not impossible is improbable

But it still doesn't mask where we are now. The league table at any time in the season is a good measure to how you've done.

I expect him to go on a run and get a load of points now because he has form for it. He did each season at Wigan when he had to change his style to get actual results. It caught up with him in the end though.

He could change the style and win every game and would be hailed a genius but he would soon be back to usual next season. It's what he does and has always done. He did it with us to an extent last season.

It would be very hard to justify sacking him if we won the Cup to be honest

You never know though, both the Club and Martinez might see it as an opportunity to part on good terms

Martinez gets another FA Cup on his CV and can get another job elsewhere, and the club can wish him well and start looking at a replacement

I should add that this was based on the assumption that the club and Martinez mutally agree to part ways, as opposed to the board saying "Thanks for a Cup 'Berto, now on your way!"

Martinez agreeing to move on to "take on a new challenge", while the board look to "go in an exciting new direction"

Basically a way for both sides to part amicably

...clearly - or perhaps not so - I'm being extremely flippant with the attached comment, and contextually it's in response to a previous.

That said, admire your positivity and genuinely hope you're right mate.

*about the LUKAKU winner/poss top 7 etc
