Swapping managers regularly is proven - to ultimately be counter productive.

You'll have to back that up Damo

... But still, you can only beat what is in front of you.

Absolutely fair. Of the teams above us, we're yet to play Leicester, United, or the Horrors away and of the top 11 sides we've only beaten two away and three total. Dunno how this compared to last season

But how bad is our league position really though. Looking at the teams behind us all of who we have a game in hand over at least I really can't see us dropping further back. We've a game in hand over everyone except Liverpool ahead of us, win that and we are only one result away from anyone up to 7th. And our goal difference pretty much guarantees we will be ahead of anyone we end up level with. There's three or four games that we all know we should have won. To my mind there was a mixture of reasons. But if any of it is sorted we would be in a promising position with another semi final looming. This is all glass half full stuff but it is a glass half full/half empty situation for me and I can see how people come out on either side. Just don't get the idea there is no argument to be had.
I'm not saying there's no argument to be had, just that most feel we should be doing a hell of a lot better and it's become very frustrating.

Just checked. I think this season, currently we're W17, D12, L10 (all competitions)

Last season; W18, D15, L18

As Orly just posted though...

The biggest factor for me is, after the weekend, we're likely to be at the same position or worse in the league as last season. Semi finals count for nothing if you don't win the thing.

I counted the draw in the Cup as a win as we won the game on PK's.

Is the 18-15-18 for the entire year? I only did through 29 games.

@davek - March 2015.

Oh dear.

Did you check the exact date in March last year when I posted that? It was March 8th.

What was the form up to March 8th? One win in 12 games. Hence my post you quoted:"if he doesn't and we continue in this form, of course he'd have to lose his job."

And, of course that would have been the outcome. But that form wasn't continued either into the rest of that season nor this season.

Another smoking gun that wasn't actually fired.

It really isn't.

In the last year alone.

Liverpool have sacked Brentan and are better under Klopp
West Ham have sacked Fat Sam and are now chasing for Top 4
West Brom sacked Alan Irvine and Improved massively
Leicester sacked Pearson and are on the verge of the title.
Chelsea sacked Mourinho and have stabilised under Hiddink.

If somethings broken you replace it.

Well, as far as the history books are concerned, yea, that's true. But the further you progress, whether it includes a bit of a luck in games or the draw, the more chance you have of winning the thing, and I suspect you'll be down at Wembley for the semi, so you can't really say it counts for nothing.

On the other hand, finishing fifth with a shed load of points didn't make any massive dent in the history books either. It got us into Europe, but so would a few less points and finishing sixth.
