Ha Ha Ha Ha.

You do realise you have absolutely no power at all dont you?

kinell, the echo chamber inhabitants actually think they makes decisions.
Same amount of sway as you Dave, although you insinuate you have understandings of the inner machinations of the club. You do know we all add to the behaviour in this thread by slagging each other off? *Hand up too*

The "We should be challenging for a CL place" argument is a bit of a distraction.

Arguably Spurs have a better squad than us.
City and Arsenal certainly do.
Leicester are flying, but if we think we could be doing the same, then so do probably about half the teams in the league

Our squad is on a par with West Ham, ManU and Southampton's. Because of City's recent form and Chelsea's implosion, West Ham and ManU are in with a shout of fourth place and there's no reason why we shouldn't be sitting in a similar position to West Ham, ManU and Soton. But, even if we were, only one of five teams would get that fourth place and the rest woul be scrapping for one or two Europa League places.

It's the fact that Martinez, for two seasons, hasn't got us anywhere near challenging for a Europa League spot from our league position which means we're underachieving and suggests he's not the man for the job.
but..HK..but

To be honest as much as qualifying is obviously an indicator of sorts the Europa league hasn't exactly lit up my life and I'm not too bothered about not being in it for now.
This isn't a pro or anti Martinez sentiment just a moan that as a tournament it feels like it's a means of protecting established teams rather than helping others develop. Spurs look like the first team who've managed to develop a squad to compete through the full drawn out kerfuffle and progress. Taken them awhile though. I still think it would stretch our squad. If you're smart then you could eventually use it as game time for youngsters good enough to break into the full squad but must be better ways of doing that.
Scrap Europa for a simple knockout tournament and bring back the reserve leagues is the end result of this ramble.

Goal difference is a very accurate indication of where a team will eventually finish. The few times it hasn't been the team have reverted to type the following season.
And as we haven't lost narrowly to sixteen teams but probably drawn a handful while being the better team then I don't see a point in answering your question. If you don't think it's positive to read a relatively accurate indicator that our league position will improve then I'm not sure why you want to debate with someone who does.

Not quite sure where you read in my post that we had lost narrowly to sixteen teams? A relatively accurate indicator of our league position is that currently we sit in 12th, last year we finished 11th after finishing the previous season 5th! As Orly previously showed, take out the two Newcastle games, Sunderland, and the two Villa games and the rest of it is bang average!
What is not bang average is 21 wins out of 67, and 4 home wins this season! Those figures are distinctly below average and will be a factor in both Lukaku and Stones decisions at the end of the season, and why so many on here are are not entirely convinced Mr M is the man to improve our league position next going forward!

You said is it okay to lose narrowly to sixteen teams. I'm assuming it was rhetorical but it was also irrelevant as you'd almost certainly have a negative goal difference, we haven't lost narrowly to sixteen teams and I didn't say it's okay.
Other stats are available but the one I mentioned has been researched from an unbiased perspective and looks good for us

Unfortunately, he's not realised that the goal difference article he links proves we are underperforming - by about 5 places. It's also an indication of a possible next season performance - not, of course, taking into account that the man with 25 goals is likely to be in his last season with us, so no longer like-for-like.

It actually even shows it, but he's back-peddling desperately.

Good post @bcblue1878 , and you've got the money shot stat in there as well.

It doesn't indicate we are underperforming at all. It clearly states the opposite. We have not got the points to match performance. Kind of what people on both sides of the argument have said.
What it goes on to display is that on the couple of occasions were this hasn't rectified itself by the end of the season it always has the following season.
So again I'd ask, how can an unbiased and extensive bit of research that shows our league position will improve be something you'd want to disprove?

Apart from his tactic and game plan mistakes I can't put up with his waffle anymore. A constant amount of waffle comes out when explaining his reasoning of playing players etc. Then 2 months later he has totally changed his mind and the player in question isn't near the team. Mcgeady/Howard/kone etc. The most recent is the addition of a totally unfit footballer in niasse joining in January. Stated when he joined his physical fitness was excellent and near ready to play. A small wrist injury and he's nowhere near physical fitness. Maybe he should just keep his mouth shut instead of waffling some dribble that everyone knows is just dribble. A cup win will save him though and if he wins it you have to say it fair enough to get another season.
