You said is it okay to lose narrowly to sixteen teams. I'm assuming it was rhetorical but it was also irrelevant as you'd almost certainly have a negative goal difference, we haven't lost narrowly to sixteen teams and I didn't say it's okay.
Other stats are available but the one I mentioned has been researched from an unbiased perspective and looks good for us

Sorry to be pedantic oldblue, but nowhere in my post did I say it is ok to lose narrowly to sixteen teams! The simple fact is that with the exception of Chelsea who were having a nightmare at the time, the only teams we have beaten at home this season are teams who were in the bottom three at the time! If you and others think that's improvement then I'm going to agree to disagree that "looks good for us"!

If he wins the Cup or gets us up to 7th, Id not be distraught that he's still in charge. He may well take stock and listen to his senior players like what Moyes did the year we finished 17th. We had a good season after that..
Agreed and that's the point. Some on here must be cashing in on the national before the last fence..

Goal difference is a very accurate indication of where a team will eventually finish. The few times it hasn't been the team have reverted to type the following season.
And as we haven't lost narrowly to sixteen teams but probably drawn a handful while being the better team then I don't see a point in answering your question. If you don't think it's positive to read a relatively accurate indicator that our league position will improve then I'm not sure why you want to debate with someone who does.

....I know one of them too.

It's called WIGAN ATHLETIC FC.

;)

It appears to me that some are clutching at straws in their defence of Martinez. Are they now saying, yes we agree we are not winning enough matches but we are looking them by so little it proves that we are a good side. Not only that but in the grand scheme of things the team's who are narrowly beaten this year will get their rewards next year and all those plucky defeats will turn into wins without us having to do anything.
I don't believe that for one second, the manager should manage, if it Isn't working change it. Experience has taught me that if you keep doing the same thing over and over again you get the same result.
For goodness sake open your eyes, we are 12th, we could fall further this weekend. We are jockeying for position with Watford and Bournemouth.
Saying we still have to turn up and play but if our form is consistent with what has previously gone on then we are much more likely to be further up the table. Not proof by any means but lot more evidence for it than the idea we'll be competing around 17th. Have to see what happens though.

I don't blame them though. It's been rubbish to watch us at home the last few years. I'm just in a slightly positive mood/worried that there's no one better lined up. If we had a top manager available and willing, Bob wouldn't even get to say bye to the ground staff. The man has has lots of positives but massive flaws in his ideal gameplan that he doesn't seem willing to address.

....well, if that coke-addled, earring-wearing bowlhead has said it then it must be true.

*hope he's wrong like.
the cokehead has hated us since he underwhelmed at Arsenal years ago and he got slaughtered by the Gwladys St.

bellend of the highest order.

I love it mate
