Can anyone actually see us NOT winning the cup from here?

I feel like it is nailed on.

I think he will be sacked at the end of the season if we don't win the cup. Simply because he has become so unpopular with many elements of our support. I don't think Martinez is a good manager, as he has a far too relaxed attitude to losing. If you look at all the top managers, they go nuts when they lose games his attitude stays the same. I just can't understand how there are still people who support him, we have our best team since the 1980s and we are in mid table. Under Moyes from 2007 finished from 5th of 8th in the table and that still wasn't enough for a lot of fans, so I don't know how people can back Bobby when he's doing even worse. We don't ask for much as fans we give players and managers far more time than other supporters, so when last season he was actually being booed for this subs I think you have to acknowledge something is seriously wrong. We don't expect to be finishing in the top 4 or to win a trophy, we just ask for our players and manager to try their best. Under Moyes that mostly happened, under Bobby it rarely happens. Who we replace him with is another issue I would go for Koemann, Billic or Mouriniho. All of them have proven that can go to the big grounds and get results when it is needed. I just think both us and our players need a change if we are to move forward, because at the moment we are going backwards. But I think is important for people to realise we all want Everton to succeed, so I wish people would stop abusing each other on twitter ever time a result proves their point.

Be honest lads, how many of you who are claiming that getting to a Semi Final is an achievement also acted like it was a failure when Moyes did it?

Personally, I think a run to the Semi Finals is an achievement, of sorts, and I think Moyes and Martinez deserve at least equal credit for doing it

If anything, Moyes deserves more credit because he had a weaker squad to work with

You can't have it both ways.

You can't use the fact that Moyes didn't win a Cup as a stick to beat him with, while also using the advancement to the latter stages of a Cup as a way to lionise Martinez

Errr, this post is about 3 years out of date. Talking to voices in your head there mate, I fear.

I for one, was an ardent Moyes supporter.

He says two months. Well he has two months to prove to me and the rest of us doubters that he is the right man to lead us forward. Cup win a must. Must finish top 9 minimum, which is highly possible.

I'm still sticking with my prediction of FA Cup win and 7th, like somebody else's third season with us;)

I'm not taking the piss out of it, so pick your toys up.

I'm clearly stating that the semi is not an achievement, us it really that hard to get it through your head, those teams got to a semi and 2 have won it.

An achievement is winning something, something that I've personally witnessed on 4 separate occasions, I know and remember what it feels like.

If we are unfortunate enough to lose the semi then we are still in the same position as we are now and have been for the last 21 years, empty handed.

So stop claiming that getting to a semi final is an achievement because it's not, plain and simple!!!

When have I ever claimed reaching a semi was an achievement? I just thought your post was just another negative shot at our club.

While a semi may not be an achievement, it's certainly nothing to sniff at either. We rarely make it that far in any competition.

Just try to enjoy it versus downplaying it.

That's how you get decent goal differences, don't lose by much when you do lose and win comfortably when you win. As the article says it has hardly ever been wrong over a season. And when it has it proved accurate for the following. If you've found the one exception then they probably need to know

Oh that's ok then! Win well against the bottom three, but draw or lose narrowly against the other fifteen or sixteen teams and it's all good???

I would never ever play down a cup win, whether league or F.A., but what I will not do is give a manager reprieve when he has clearly underperformed in the league.

Just playing Devils advocate but the same can be said in reverse, you like to state things as fact too dave whilst none of us hold any sway, we just go round in circles but ultimately we don't know what is being said at board level. The best we can do is vent our frustrations/support on here.
