Might do yes but we don't know that hence season end is the right time to judge.

It is though; we've got nearly two seasons of evidence.

Yes, a miracle might occur in the league, or we might win two one-off games and grab the cup, but the manager has proven consistently now that he can't manage at this level.

...what are you talking about, and why so oddly patronising? Pop your HRT patch back on, all will be well again...

Thanks for the congrats though, despite never running one, it just seems a tad obvious that one can't really compare the two, no?

You're surprised at the 'nit-pickiness'? Really...tell you what surprises me mate, is how many posters seem utterly desperate to become the CAGNEY to Dave K's LACEY, I get it, he's a hero, sound...

...but the peculiar onanism over the MANAGER is a tad unnerving at times, support him by all means, great, well done...but some are painting him as blameless in relation to our current position. Again, sound...how does that work? Put simply, he isn't...he's hugely responsible.

And if you can't see that then yis need to wipe the jazz off yer goggles...

Ah. The marathon thing was someone else wasn't it? Apologies, I see you've pointed out to Forest that they're totally unrelated.
Its not about Cagney & Lacey, its about seeing the bigger picture. Martinez isn't blameless, of course he isn't – home form has been dreadful. But demanding the manager is sacked and getting your knickers in a twist because others don't agree and find it easy to logically explain why is no reason to get angry.

So would you want him out of we finish 7th and win a cup?

Something like £10m.

I've just answered this mate - I said no; he'd get until Christmas for me. But if we're still gash early on, that'd be three seasons in a row that the manager has proven, beyond doubt, he can't manage consistently at this level.

But if he finished 7th and won the cup would you keep him? Not defending poor results at home as this must improve but not impossible we do the above.
No I wouldn't keep him, a cup win, don't get me wrong would be brilliant but it wouldn't be enough for me to keep him. To do well in the final quarter of the season having not done much in the first 3/4 would only add to the frustration that people feel, why could we not have done that sooner?

I've said this before but I'll say it again.

Martinez has underperformed and underwhelmed now for the majority of his Everton career.

If Martinez took over, say West Ham instead of Everton and did exactly what he did at Everton, signed some sexy players but they finished 5th followed by two bottom half finishes - nobody would be advocating him/have him on their shortlist to be Everton manager this summer.

Misplayed loyalty. He may present himself well, be a nice man, but we owe the man nothing.

But Kendall did the same in 83/84 so he would also have gone..

It's a moot point though mate. If we were in contention to finish top seven, then the discontent wouldn't be the same with the manager.

As it is, we could easily slump out of the FA Cup with one bad game in the semi against decent opposition, and finish about 14th. And that's actually looking the more likely scenario.

How is that looking the more likely scenario? Surely there's as much chance of winning the semi as there is losing it, and as much chance of moving up the league as down it.

Because there's nearly two seasons now of chronic and consistent underperformance. There's nothing to suggest we'll suddenly go on a barnstorming run and win 90% of our games from now until the end of the season.

Being pragmatic - no.

Finishing 7th means winning around six games out of the remaining nine which I find impossible bearing in mind bobby god has a winning rate of 31% in the league for two seasons in a row.
