The thing is we're not likely to achieve top half let alone 7th, but I do fancy our chances in the cup.But Kendall did the same in 83/84 so he would also have gone..

To add to this - can anyone name how many times under Martinez we've won two games on the spin?!
i am, but there s no point of cheering about where you end up in between 7- or effing 15....it's all the same, it will be like water on ducks arse feathers that and you know it. this season is pretty much done. theres one thing to thrive for. otherwise it's like...is martinez gonna bottle it hard enough to get the converse in his anus. You're not happy finishing 12th mate. Stop pretending. You're better than that.
He has form for doing exactly that in run in. Not defending our home record you can't but same as if we win the cup he has delivered in 3 years what previous managers couldn't do in 18.Being pragmatic - no.
Finishing 7th means wining around six games out of the remaining nine which I find impossible bearing in mind bobby god has a winning rate of 31% in the league for two seasons in a row.

I've said this before but I'll say it again.
Martinez has underperformed and underwhelmed now for the majority of his Everton career.
If Martinez took over, say West Ham instead of Everton and did exactly what he did at Everton, signed some sexy players but they finished 5th followed by two bottom half finishes - nobody would be advocating him/have him on their shortlist to be Everton manager this summer.
Misplayed loyalty. We may present himself well, be a nice man, but we owe the man nothing.
Because there's nearly two seasons now of chronic and consistent underperformance. There's nothing to suggest we'll suddenly go on a barnstorming run and win 90% of our games from now until the end of the season.

But if there were no chance then why even have a cup competition....just give the pot to the team who one most games last season.
Football this season has been more unpredictable than it has for many a year in the EPL....I'm not saying it will happen, just that there's equal chance of it happening.

There is though.
i was reacting to ijjys obviously overreacted comment about how important it is to be 7th or something.. it doesnt matter so much and you know it. ofcourse it gives you few millions more than like 10th but blaah, if your season is like blaaaah and you dont get moisture out of europe or from the cups then ask a fan in the summer time does he get kicks out of 7th place. ...Why do people keep saying this? Are you being sarcastic and I'm just not noticing.
There's obviously a difference - more prize money than winning the FA Cup for about six years on the spin being one, and not being viewed as a lame duck by potential transfer targets as well as star players already at the club being another.
