I totally agree, I think for a lot of fans now, the damage has been done and winning the FA Cup will do nothing to alleviate people's feelings. I see it as a platform to build on and go forward. However, it's the league position that is the concern, the goals conceded and the games we've thrown away from winning positions. They for me are the concerns but I see a solution. I see how well the youth is progressing and we don't see the hard work the coaching staff is putting in. Remember, a lot of our players are still potential, imagine playing with them and against them at full strength, in their prime? That's a frightening thought for any opposition and we have to admire Martinez's stance on keeping players at this club. It's evident what he is aiming to do.

At last some logic to the pro Martinez argument - give him time, fair enough. There's no doubt he's done some great things - players signed (Lukaku, Deulofeu, McCarthy, Mori, Cleverley, Barry etc) and attacking football played. Also some players are developing really well under him. We're now in theory very well placed - great squad and now with money

He needs to show how he's addressing defence though - he seems almost autistic when it comes to it - it's like he just won't address it. Tactics aside, the Jan transfer window was an opportunity to strengthen here, instead he bought Niasse. If your philosophy isn't working, adapt it. If he can't adapt then 3 seasons is enough, even if we win the FA cup. Everton with money is an appealing prospect for a top manager

I don't think managers add much value, by an large (talking about at the top level where everyone knows what they are doing). The exceptions at the top end - really strong managers, are well known. Seems very rare to get exceptions at the other end, where you can say that the raw material of the team could be 8 places higher with a better manager. Could you say that about any other team in the prem? Doubt it - and you could have said a similar thing last season (around 4 or 5 places higher). Roberto fits the bill here of a losing manager, sad to say - he's failing in a very obvious and conspicuous way, be amazed if he's here in May.

It's 51%, 31%, 30% in the league

Don't take it personally he doesn't respond to posts that can't be answered with either 2 cup runs or 72 points

The league doesn't matter (apart from that first season, and his overall win % over a certain number of games) but for anything else the league doesn't matter. It's all about the cups (this is where it's ok not to mention that first season).

He has to show that he's addressing the defensive situation - if he does that then we'd all feel a lot better - if not then enough is enough. He has 9 league games to demonstrate that. We have money now - no excuse for mediocrity

He's had 2 years to address it I doubt he's gonna change in the next 9 games, pretty obvious during he's time at wigan he won't address feck all.

I cannot argue against any of your points and when I've asked for people to be patient with the manager, after listening to their reasons, I find it hard to counter their argument. You do raise valid points and it was after the Manchester City game 2nd leg semi that I felt let down by the manager. There's been plenty of games this season I've walked away frustrated unable to comprehend what had just happened. I've struggled to find positives when there's been the negatives right there in my head jumping out at my, but I chose to push those thoughts back. I still crazily believe he is the right manager to take us forward and I think like this when I try to think of what life would be without him. I look at his blueprint, I look at the squad he has assembled, I somehow think with instinct 'there's something to come'. I have that feeling that there's a work in progress with Martinez. I would hate us to act hastily and prematurely. Like I say, I understand yours and many fans arguments but for me, I sense something good is really not too far away.

Two great posts from you and @The Esk which, for me at least, give a balanced view of the situation without the mass hysteria and agenda-ridden angst of much of what we read on here with 'plotters' and 'cults'.

For what it's worth I'm firmly in the same mind set as you at the moment, and sometimes can't really articulate why....it is 'a feeling that something's brewing' but also that changing a playing culture that's been ingrained at Everton since the end of the glorious 80's just simply isn't an overnight job. Squad overhaul has been positive, some of our attacking play great to watch and the development if key players and youngsters is a joy to have. However, individual errors defensively and lack of game-changing or game-holding substitutions have dirtied the waters. Much of that is down to the manager and ultimately he'll carry the can if it continues, but the players get away very lightly at times in my opinion.
