I don't think anyone is 100% convinced by any manager to be fair! and I can understand the criticism he gets. However, to turn round an Everton you need a focused plan and it seems he's steadfastly stuck to that plan in the belief it will bear fruit.

Defensively, he clearly relies on back room support and it's arguable that that is where things need to be changed or reinforced. As individuals we've got some great defenders and the signing of Funes Mori shows he or the club can spot a good defender.....likewise Galloway and the other young lad who followed Stones from Barnsley.
The problem seems to be the organisation and concentration defensively when playing the way we do. One main thing has changed since that great first season....tempo. We've gone from high tempo to no tempo and that's what frustrates everybody. I'm no expert so don't know why that's changed so dramatically but I think it's down to a relatively static and non-creative midfield. Not having a creative fulcrum in the team means we wait longer for a chance to open up which means the games much slower.
As I said....I'm no expert as you can tell....but watching Everton for over 40 years that's what I see.
Yes, I agree with you. I'm coming round to the view that Martinez Perhaps should get more time to really sort out our defensive problems, and to do that he needs a complete change of heart on the set up of the team. He must put more emphasis on the total lack of cover on the wings when our attacking fullbacks go missing up the field. Can he do this? He should be able to. Will he do this? I hope so, or we will be recruiting a new management team before the year end imho.

Martinez is too stubborn to change. People will still be talking in years about defensive frailties if hes given more time. I think behind the scenes the players mindsets have dropped. Once lukaku leaves in the summer the team will struggle big time with Kone up front. Can anyone believe him when he says we can compete with the best teams for the best players. His drivel has turned alot of people off. Time for change with someone coming in who can get the best out of the players offensively and defensively rather than talk about it. Hes the Manuel of football

Surely that's true if any team that goes down.....most errors equals most lost points.
....unless such team possesses rare counterpoise like a Lukaku; which, luckily for EFC, it does.

the 'hunting with the hounds, running with the foxes' (aka 'feet in both camps')position assumed as argument for supporting continued tenure of an evidently under-performing manager, is just plain disingenuousness.
You might pussyfoot reality all you will....but the truth is staring you in the face...

Needs to stop, this 5th is the same as 15th palaver...it's not and it's embarrassing some think that and consider it a valid redress to certain arguments on the forum. It's a league ('super-dooper Barclays prem' (YAWN) or otherwise) and the only...the ONLY sign of progression in it is how high up it you finish...it's not hard to understand really.

Frankly bonkers that some of the all-out, keks-down PRO RM supporters apply the above - '5th and 15th no diff' - point, how else would you measure HIS progression also....?

'...sound, finished 14th, but he's STILL the man to take us forward...'

Yeah. Ok. (shurrup)

And knee-jerk? Christ, that needs turning in as well, fans having a pop at fans who've formulated opinions over time, often quite patiently....knee-jerk? OK...

Or those who just didn't feel it for him from the start....knee-jerk as well?

And now those with concerns are deemed flappers with a sense of entitlement because of the MOSH money?!?!?!?

Hahahaha....

There's some well-greased wheels on the pro-brigade goalposts, that's fo' dammmmn sures...

Still, turn it all round, I'll give him a cuddle.

5th is the same as 15th is absolute rubbish, utter utter tripe.

You try to finish as high as you can, improve season on season, climbing up the table to reach the top 4, that is the game.

Where you finish tells you what you are doing right and in our case what you are doing wrong.
Notwithstanding 72 is the new 69.

Our aim, which is the aim of every football club in the world, is to finish as high as possible in your respective league.

Anybody who does not this does not understand football, probably never really been involved in football at any level, or possibly is just a WUM by claiming any other possible scenario is satisfactory.

;)

...you're missing the new slant WAL, that there's only been an upsurge against because of the 'entitlement'brought about by the MOSH money.

Sheesh...

Desperate stuff indeed eh...

Ridiculous ramblings and child like attempts at winding the true Evertonians on here who care about the club and the team, who also realise the current manager is not an integral part to our future if he cannot do his job properly.

We haven't even seen a penny of anybody's money yet either, which backs up what I am saying about the winding people up element.

I am really amazed mods allow these kinds of attempts of goading caring Evertonians on here if I am really honest.

I'm fixated on us keeping our best players and improving to maybe be in a position to challenge for more honours in the future David

Yep
;)

'Alright Rom, look, we've finished 5th, and not by much, got a feeling we can really improve on this, take another step, what with all the new investment....so, wanna stay and be part of something good...?'

OR

'Alright Rom, look, I know we've finished 13th, but I genuinely feel we'll really improve on that...maybe next year we'll look at 10th, possibly even 9th...waddya say....you in BIG BOY?

('Bye')

No difference at all is there...pfffffff.

Well said.

I get the impression that one person defends the manager and the others follow suit to strengthen what they are saying, hence the repeated points that make our club look like a joke if we all felt the same.

What if we lose the semi final? Been plenty if talk of winning the cup like a certainty, so many mentions of give him more time if he wins the cup. Considering we haven't beat one opposition this season, and could lose twice against the other today, we are massive underdogs in the tie and its amazing considering one of those teams are linked with buying all our best players !
