Roberto Martinez discussion

no surprises there then

*Thinks;how to dumb this down a bit.

They are both different flavours of bang average to be swerved / got rid of.
but it won't happen as the Club ( and sad to say too many supporters ) is happy with an average low single digit finish like 7th 8th or even the odd 5th or 11th
So would it be fair to say that you believe we should be getting a regular 4th place or even better.

It may hurt but we are an average outfit that has potential in good proportions.

If we deal in reality we will recognise that without great investment we will always be the team in the single digit placing's.
If we deal in the realms of fantasy, yes we should be finishing in the top 4 as the squad we have is b,Essex with World class players

Back to reality, have we got any world class players

How did Brendan the clown lead a Liverpool side with a strikeforce of Borini, Lambert and Balotelli to nearly get it last season? Rubbish manager, rubbish squad but almost got in. We had a supposedly better manager and a 30 mill striker upfront yet finished 12th. Something's not right.
You are kidding aren't you? He spent £300m in three seasons and the second he lost Suarez fell 8 points short of the CL spots.

You're deluded if you think we can seriously compete for CL places on our budget.

This is how you post folks.

This.

I can be constructive over a few areas of RM tenure, but I don't go into the knee jerk overload like some people on here.
I read your posts with interest but I find I am becoming sceptical of your content, as they tend to start off in a good constructive approach but the ending is always the same....sack him.
I have seen great Everton teams and I have seen very poor Everton teams, this team I do believe we have the potential to be a very good team but let's not forget there are a fair few very good teams out there

Would you agree that 5th - 8th is were we sit

I believe there are 7 good teams in the prem and 13 poorer ones (not that they can't all be a handful on their day). My minimum expectation considering our squad would be 7th. If I was being greedy I don't see why we could not finish ahead of one of Spurs or Liverpool in that top 7. That would constitute a good season for me. Trophy or top 4 would be a great one. Sadly at that end of the league one placing can make a difference between a good season and an average one. I do not expect to see over the course of 38 games the likes of Stoke Swansea West Ham or Palace finish above us.

When in your opinion does a "poor" team become a "good" one in your opinion, or vice a versa?

Let's take West Ham for instance they've beaten 3 of what I'd guess are your "good" teams away from home already yet you still class them as a poor team. What's the tipping point?

So would it be fair to say that you believe we should be getting a regular 4th place or even better. (NO, but we would stand a better chance with somebody other/better than Martinez)

It may hurt but we are an average outfit that has potential in good proportions. (TRUE)

If we deal in reality we will recognise that without great investment we will always be the team in the single digit placing's. (a few extra quid wouldn't hurt )
If we deal in the realms of fantasy, yes we should be finishing in the top 4 as the squad we have is b,Essex with World class players (?)

Back to reality, have we got any world class players (you've got me there tbh )

until we get somebody better than Martinez who can maximise what we do potentially have we'll never know.
*nails colours to mast.
I want him gone. him and his 'kin philosophy-gone, phenomenal-gone, pass it about aimlessly-gone, a team full of hamstrings waiting to happen-gone.
The present regime at the top - gone.
which like I keep on saying, until that happens or a mike walker episode Martinez is here until he leaves.
He isn't going to slowly make it better then one day the ugly duckling aka poor football we have to watch will before our very eyes turn into a swan.

I'm done *sits back to wait for the vaulting that will never come.

Just because you said that we'll finish top 4 and win a trophy this season.

I don't know what's been in the water the last couple of days with all of the massive dissertations on this topic.

I will give my opinion, but I won't make it super long winded, because it's very simple for me.

Hope. Martinez inspired hope in me for the first time in a very long time. Hope is a very powerful thing.

Moyes never inspired hope...he inspired plucky little Ebepton and their punching above their weight stature.

We're we are now is a very promising and respectable position, talking into consideration of opposition plus at times losing 3 internationals out of your back four.

I believe we will finish between 5 th and 8th, with expenditure against other teams it is were we actually belong.
If you feel challenging for a top 4 place is a right of Everton club, you really need to re-address your aspirations.

And before you shout me down, I want to be in the top 4 and I want it more than anything, sadly I think it will take building a squad and patience
We are in a precarious position, yes potentially exciting
Things need addressing tho. 9 wins in 28 (I think) at home isn't good enough. We still haven't proven we can break down sides at home.

I personally don't know if 8th will be good enough to keep hold of players, players like stones, lukaku etc who we are trying to build our squad around.
Maybe 8th and a cup would do, I still don't know
