Roberto Martinez discussion

I notice with irritation he was a pundit again last night. If Roberto thinks he can disappear for weeks on end in the summer like he did last year (with the consequent disastrous impact on our season) somebody needs to get hold of him. I heard an interview with Pulis the other week, where he described the close season as the most important part of the year, as that is where the preparation is.laid for the whole season. Okay Pulis is not utopia but he is a well organised manager, and I had to agree with him after the Brazil debacle

yeah, how dare he be where all the top players from around the world are, watching games and visiting the various camps to see how they conduct their training. He should be at home watching it on TV and looking to the West Brom Manager for inspiration instead.

I believe there are 7 good teams in the prem and 13 poorer ones (not that they can't all be a handful on their day). My minimum expectation considering our squad would be 7th. If I was being greedy I don't see why we could not finish ahead of one of Spurs or Liverpool in that top 7. That would constitute a good season for me. Trophy or top 4 would be a great one. Sadly at that end of the league one placing can make a difference between a good season and an average one. I do not expect to see over the course of 38 games the likes of Stoke Swansea West Ham or Palace finish above us.
Seems fair

until we get somebody better than Martinez who can maximise what we do potentially have we'll never know.
*nails colours to mast.
I want him gone. him and his 'kin philosophy-gone, phenomenal-gone, pass it about aimlessly-gone, a team full of hamstrings waiting to happen-gone.
The present regime at the top - gone.
which like I keep on saying, until that happens or a mike walker episode Martinez is here until he leaves.
He isn't going to slowly make it better then one day the ugly duckling aka poor football we have to watch will before our very eyes turn into a swan.

I'm done *sits back to wait for the vaulting that will never come.
At least you are honest in wanting him gone, which I respect.
Most people hide and don't have your same conviction.

Who would you have, as I don't see many better than him

Birmingham isn't far and WBA have plenty of spare seats, go down and watch them...you will change your mind

No, he should be setting the groundwork for the next season. you might be happy with him taking a six week sabbatical during the most crucial part of the year so he can, raise his profile and.line his pockets, im not. And yes, Watch an international team train? They're all always ten years behind, I give you Martin ONeil Roy Hodgson, Gordon S. Meet the players?thats just laughable

Let's note this was not this pre season just gone, it was the previous one.

Also didn't we sign this unknown fella call Besic.

Just noticed from the Echo coverage of El Gaffer's press conference this morning that there's 'embargoed' parts to it. Is this something new? Press conferences in parts for commercial purposes? What a rigmarole.

lollollollollollol

do you seriously think he was out there for 6 weeks? It was a fortnight tops because he kept flying back if you remember. And if you think that all the planning for preseason is left until then, you'd be worse than Pulis and given that more than half of our squad was out there don't you think he should be looking in on them?

As for the punditry, why shouldn't he give a few minutes of his views on a match he was going to be at anyway in return for TV paying for him to be out there doing his Everton job rather than us paying for it? plus he got Press credentials which gave him better access than Everton could have arranged.

Come on, surely you've got enough of an imagination to channel your hatred of Bobby into something more relevant and substantial, you're grasping at straws here mate.

I wish we had Pulis. He never goes anywhere and eats fish and chips and wears a knotted hanky on his head at Margate in the summer and it hasn't prevented him becoming one of the top managers in Europe.

not necessarily anything to do with anything Commercial, just means he's talking about something that we don't want in the Press until news of it is released properly. It allows the News organisations to interview the relevant people and produce a package rather than just blurting it out on the fly and playing catch up. Clubs do it all the time, could be anything. My guess would be something Kendall based that the Club will announce in the next couple of days.
