Roberto Martinez discussion

Fully agree with you there. Thought that after tonight's abysmal performance that Martinez isn't the man for the job anymore. He always goes on about the 'quality' in the team (Lukaku!?) and can never set his team up to defend properly. Don't know who Everton would get as a new manger, mind.

We got beat away from home against a team who have better players than us.

His persistence with Howard is ridiculous.

It's just confusing. It defies all common sense.

It's not even like we're talking about say, playing with 1 winger or a lone striker etc. There are consequences to such things, such as the shape or balance of the team, and it's not always as simple as it seems.

But a keeper is a keeper. They need to make saves and control their area. If they're so bad that opponents are actually targeting them specifically, then there is just no reason to persist. Either you play your 2nd choice or if they're somehow even worse (which Robles isn't in my opinion) then you sign a new keeper.

Its how we lose though.
A few good chances in the 2nd half but we looked lost on the whole.
As will most teams against Arsenal, as did Bayern (!), who created nada all game against them less than a week ago.

I'm not shocked in the slightest here to be perfectly honest. Yes, we deserved more, but we also didn't take our chances when we had them.

You can't be serious right now. We just went to a place where Bayern Munich- perhaps the best team in the world- were beaten, and deserved a draw, maybe even a win with a little luck. If this is how we're playing in 5 years than he needs to be given an extension.

How to play a team that is technically better and pass the ball better than us? The answer is to harass them at every possible opportunity and don't give them the luxury of holding onto the ball and move around with ease.

Arsene used to hate playing us simply because we don't let them play the way they want. That wasn't the case today and will never be something that is found in Martinez way ever.

He started off the season well but the tactics are mind boggling.
hardly create chances and the tempo on the whole is too slow.
He needs to sort it because his blind spot with howard will cost us 2 goals most games
We weren't even bad today. Take away Tim Howard and we win the game. That was the most chances we created at the Emirates for a while. Unlucky today not to get at least a draw.

lollollollollollollol

oh dear...

Oh wow. People going way over the top. What a shock.

10 games in. We've lost 3 to City, United and Arsenal. The probably top 3 at the end of the season.

It really isn't that bad.
Its how we play mate,we are starting to look lost again.
That 1st half we played like a league 1 side just giving them the ball.

Jesus Ijjy, should we just surrender to teams that are better than us?

Just because Arsenal are better than us doesn't mean Martinez hasn't got room for improvement. His loyalty to Howard has cost us massively today, so I think it's clearly a viable talking point.

We didn't surrender though. We played alright (eventually) and could and maybe should have got something out of it.

I'm just not going to be livid about losing to Arsenal, City and Chelsea.

I'll reserve that for when we lose to Stoke at home.

What I like about this season so far is we haven't got beat by teams we shouldn't be beat by. Most of our draws should have been wins but that will come I reckon. Such a difference from last year
