Roberto Martinez discussion

I wouldn't say lost. Yet.
We really struggle to create chances on the whole.
The whole set up of the team is wrong,we have 2 dm's but concede loads of chances.
We started the season well but we are looking jaded and lost at times and we have no europa cup to blame it on

We didn't surrender though. We played alright (eventually) and could and maybe should have got something out of it.

I'm just not going to be livid about losing to Arsenal, City and Chelsea.

I'll reserve that for when we lose to Stoke at home.

If someone bases an entire critique of Martinez on this one game, then that's silly.

But him sticking by Howard has happened for well over a year. Good teams, average teams, bad teams. He's stuck with him. It's a long running problem and regardless of how good Arsenal are, they didn't create that many opportunities. Both of their goals were down to the keeper flapping. Yet Martinez continues to stick by him and if you think that isn't worth talking about just because we didn't lose to Stoke, then I think we'll just have to disagree.

I should make it clear that I'm not saying Martinez is perfect. He clearly isn't.

But I don't think Everton are in that bad a position at the moment.

I still think Howard's our best keeper mate, that's why he's getting picked. It's bloody scary to be honest. You could argue that we should be getting Robles on, I wouldn't be against it, but our options aren't flash.

Needed backing before the season,
we needed a keeper ,number 10 and another player up front going into it , didnt get them so its going to be an up and down season.
We will struggle agaist the top teams then hold are own with the rest.

We actually played alright. We lost because of the differences in the two teams goalkeepers, nothing else in it.

Exactly. The keeper Martinez has a massive blind spot for.

In the interest of balance I should say that I was pleased to see him drop Naismith, stick with Deulofeu and give Kev more than 2 minutes. He made good subs I think and we were in the game (without creating much admittedly) until the final whistle.

But we lost and we lost due to 2 goals that were so incredibly avoidable. It's immensely frustrating to miss out on what would have been a good point or a brilliant three, not because of Arsenal's resources or ability, but because of the inability of Martinez's favourite keeper.

You blame the manager, I blame the guy trying to flap at the ball. As I said above, Robles isn't the answer either.

We tried to play a particular way today with a particular line-up that I personally agreed with. Unfortunately we came up against perhaps the in-form team of the league.

I thought the substitutions were fine and we gave them a good game. Can't really complain.

We've handled a brutal opening ten fixtures pretty well, given we've had as many injuries as anyone in the league. If we can get into a good rhythm and start beating the lesser sides now, we could fly up the league if we're able to keep a fit squad.

Don't forget they had chances 2nd half as well.
We never turned up 1st half and gave them a 2 goal lead thats how it was lost.
At half time the score was 2-1. The only reason we gave them a 2 goal lead was Tim Howard and Jagielka who had an off game. Not the whole team and not Martinez

I don't think Robles is the next De Gea but his one run in the team heralded many clean sheets and a big improvement, game by game, from him. People were furious when he was dropped for Howard and rightly so.

However this is why there are transfer windows. Our keeper is arguably our biggest weakness and had been for a while, so why didn't we sign anyone?

But who picks the flipping keeper??

For the record I blame Howard too. Of course I do. He's (on form) the worst keeper in the league and shows no sign of improving, or even being arsed. And Robles, for the record, was signed by Martinez himself. Why sign someone you don't trust to take over from a keeper in such dire form?

The tactics were dreadfull 1st half we never layed a glove on them till we scored.
We were lost and kept giving them the ball and as for you thinking nobody else had a bad game i give up
