The winter window will be incredibly important for Martinez. We need an extra attacking option ala Yarmolenko, even though I'm just not sure if he's gonna happen or not. But more importantly, we need a new keeper. Martinez got the lineup right today, maybe I start Mirallas over Lennon but I understand his reasonings behind the Lennon start. Tim Howard directly cost us the game today, and if he isn't replaced sooner rather than later, he will continue to steal points from the side. The manager is caught between a rock and a hard place, does he keep the faith with Howard over an unproven and often just as shaky Joel, or drop the veteran American for the Spaniard? To be honest, I just don't know which is the right answer.
But the goalkeeping situation is going to directly cost us European qualification if it isn't sorted in January, and if the manager doesn't fix it in that window, he deserves all the criticism in the world. But I think he did just about everything right today barring the late introduction of Kone, should've happened about ten minutes earlier. Not a terrible amount he could do about Howard chucking the ball into the net twice in a minute and forty seconds.
