Roberto Martinez discussion

No, his huge deluge of tosh post, all several paragraphs of it, was against fans who dared to have an opinion, or be emotionally invested in the outcome of Everton matches - so I took umbrage against that.

What are my personal opinions on Martinez's management of Everton? Not a huge fan, true. Indeed if you look at the match thread from last night people are starting to get off the fence now - big ten games in his career with us.

Edit: Having seen @Paul Bernard 's below, I definitely echo much of the sentiments. I think Martinez is a good, well-meaning sort and deserves massive praise for his treatment of Kendall and others, but from the highs of the first season it has been feast or famine since - and plenty of the latter.
Why do people pick up on spelling mistakes, strange behaviour.

I do laugh over comments over RM and his future, as if he goes who do we get

He has recently been getting it wrong again, the football has been dire, team selection has been wrong, needs to start changing things up especially if some of his senior players aren't doing it.

It's got to the point again were I'm not looking forward to the games as it's the same mistakes, slow predictable play week in week out.

Exactly what we were talking about last night. Remember that Goodison roar under Moyes. When everyone was up for it and you just knew the players were being driven on by the crowd and we were going to get a result. By the time we've passed it round pointless amount of times at the back any momentum built up with this team has gone. I really do wish the lad the best of luck at this club but his style of football is boring me and the people I go the match with to tears.

I like to take the WBA game as an example. For the first half, we sat back and invites them to take it to us- which was expected as it's an away game. They scored two goals. Immediately, formation and tactics were changed dramatically for the second half. Not a coincidence we scored 3 goals.

Martinez is a tactician and a master at being one. We can take the game to anybody in the league. We took it to Arsenal in the second half. We beat a good Chelsea team. If he grows a pair and plays the best players each game, we will develop into a top 4 side.

Umm... In my humble opinion, master tacticians would usually just do the scoring 3 goals thing, and not really bother with the conceding 2 first aspect of it. But hey, who am I to judge?

And yet Martinez is going to be nowhere near a European place for the second season on the bounce and Moyes had us there nearly every season, i can't stand the snake but the bollox spouted about him by Davek just makes me have a bit more respect for his managerial time at Everton and where he had us finishing

Why would you say we will be nowhere near a European place?

It's all going the little Catalan's way at the minute. Decent chance now of a SF place in the LC and a firm platform in the league to launch ourselves into upcoming winnable games to climb the table...and Clevereley, Baines and Besic to return.
Yep, we're well placed at the minute. The fixture list looks enticing, but it's up to him and the players to seize the opportunity that we've now got.

Sunday is a big game for us, we need a win to give us some impetus in the league going into that run of winnable games.

I'm pleased with where we are currently, as the fixture list wasn't kind early doors, I looked at it thinking we could be down amongst the dross at this point, so we've done well, but it'll mean nothing if we don't take advantage between now and the new year.

I don't hope he gets sacked I hope he gets it right. But he needs some kind of epiphany.

He persists with these 2 DMs game in game out but we ship so many chances it doesn't seem to be working.

I'd love to see him switch to one DM and switch the balance to attack slightly more.

The LC is put on hold now for another month, in which time if we pick up 9 points from the 4 games we have I'd be well pleased.

We should be aiming at a target by Christmas Day of 30 points in the league and looking forward to a SF of the LC in the New Year. That'd be very satisfactory.

Martinez reminds me of a boss I had. This guy lacked stature (& was conscious about it), had no personality that most people could readily associate with, competence was questionable, surrounded himself with sycophants whose competence was also questionable, said all the right things to the people who mattered, inc. partners .. all in all a horrible excuse of a man.

I fear that we are stuck with Martinez for the foreseeable future & we'll be expected to accept mediocrity during his 'reign'. Any success will be luck rather than design. He is what he is .. and anyone who's ever worked for a diminutive latino who's out of his depth will understand.
You are talking out of your hoop mate.
Everyone who's talked with the bloke has had nice things to say about him, he's charismatic, well spoken and incredibly knowledgeable about all facets of football.
That's ex players fans coaching staff pundits you name it anyone who knows him thinks he is a genuinely nice bloke who knows his stuff. Whether that equates to what we need in a football manager to be successful is yet to be fully determined.

But your attack on the man's character is absurd.

Wind your head in.
Especially with the latino stuff.
Go support the RS if you want to come out with that racist crap you horrible gobsh1te.

seriously what is the obsession with moyes? He's gone so just let it go. whether you like Martinez or not, why the constant need to compare? You can either think he's doing a good job, a bad one, or a so-so/average without comparing previous managers.
