Roberto Martinez discussion

Then in that case you should have packed in going around 1986-87 with a brief trip back for the FA cup under Royle.

in that case Everton should ask to be removed from all future competitions they play in and have there winners names removed from this history books.

We,e do better to purge the fan-base of the loosers mentality.

The fact that Bobby's comments about the defending and leaking of goals not being good enough show that comment to be a bit stupid really.

There's been no obvious action in terms of the keeping situation, the system, or proactive decision making during matches. Due to the fact he also played with a front 5 when 3-2 up, I'll respectfully disagree.

I love this post -- not least because it made me say "oh FFS why haven't I booked my bloody hotel yet just in case -- is it because I wasted 200 quid on Europa League final tickets? ... probably plays a role but you can cancel hotels ... I should try to find a hotel now."

I agree with everything but this is the internet so here's the one part I don't agree with: I'm not sure about this "sea change" part that everyone is buying into these days. Writing off the powers that have dominated the game for decades now seems optimistic. I worry the only difference about this year is that they didn't realize prices have gone up. Is Stones still here if it was 60m (60 is the new 30)? That's what's about to happen in my opinion -- they will just pay more. This is a gap year and they didn't realize the impact the extra money would have -- they won't be messing around this coming summer and this whole "teams don't have to sell" lark is going to get a real test.

If you had to bet on the top four in the league next year, serious money, would you really not go for City, United, Chelsea and Arsenal?

Firstly, ever the optimist just in case, but generally just liking football, I booked a hotel in Warsaw and flights, in I think the September and tried for tickets through UEFA - which I got for me and the lad. Also missed out on Rotterdam so was determined not to miss out on Warsaw just in case.

The 'sea change' may be a temporary thing and only last this year. Those that have dominated the game for decades may swallow up all the best talent available here- like they have done previously - but as you say it will be at a heavy price. And who is to say that managers here will not go abroad and unearth other talent, and with money in their pockets will get them or bring youngster through.

But the same managers that are having a right go now will still be here with the same attitude. There is a lot of good managers in the premier league who have players that have worked on their skills and work well with formations etc. I will be interesting to see what Vardy and Mahrez do at Leicester.

It would be hard not to go for the usual suspects but I wouldn't be too sure. Every dog has its day as the saying goes and that will make the league even more interesting.

That's not what you said though.

You said he can't see that we've got defensive issues.

Make sensible posts about not addressing issues by all means. Make up lies and be pulled up on it.

Bloody hell do you remember that Stoke away Dave, I think I might have mentioned that night that I thought the players were actively trying to get him sacked after that woeful performance.

That was one dark night that only slightly numbed by an enormous amount of alcohol.
I remember Martinez looked shell shocked in interview. He looked like he was toast. Minus 7 GD at the time; never mind good attack/bad defence as now - they were a shambles all over.

That was the when it bottomed out and we picked up. This season is chalk and cheese in many respects. Plus 7 GD, scoring and playing for fun. Just need to bolt the door at the back.

The back door has been kicked in and needs replacing.

What I have to laugh at is, Martinez has been here, what, 2 and a half years, he's finished 5th, 11th, given us our highest ever prem points total, got us to a cup semi, playing some of the best footy we've seen for a long time, but some aren't willing to give him time.

You couldn't make it up, could you?

On another, non club specific, forum I post on the consensus among the posters is that EFC is a top goalkeeper away from being a serious contender.

And I have been pointing out to some of the younger element on here that Bobby's Everton is way further down the road than Howard's Everton was after two and a half years at the helm.

Not that anyone wants to listen to anyone saying Rome wasn't built in a day :(
