Roberto Martinez discussion

That's not what you said though.

You said he can't see that we've got defensive issues.

Make sensible posts about not addressing issues by all means. Make up lies and be pulled up on it.

He can say what he likes in post match pressers. It's all irrelevant when he sends out kone to patrol the left and howard in goal again the next game. To me that's being oblivious. If you think I'm wrong here then fine, certainly not the first time lol. But if I am then he's stupidly stubborn and has short term memory loss!

I'm not saying the fans know the solution to the problem. But it's worrying that the fans can see exactly that the problem is individual mistakes stemming from a lopsided, inbalanced, over the top aggressive system, but roberto seems oblivious and thinks we are all phenonmenal fs
I dont think it does mate. That's what's frustrating. Get rid of the GK and we're almost there. A decent GK saves us a few points with stops AND gives his defence more of a platform to play out from.

Nothing to do with aggressive play...we need to retain that at all costs.

It read like you were saying he needed money to sort the defence out. If that's not what you meant then what you typed was actually even less relevant. It's part of a coaches job to organise a defence, which has bugger all to do with the undoubted incompetence of our board.
...it was a staggering hypocrisy if true. Pot calling the (relatively shiny) kettle, black.

You couldn't make it up, could you?

On another, non club specific, forum I post on the consensus among the posters is that EFC is a top goalkeeper away from being a serious contender.

And I have been pointing out to some of the younger element on here that Bobby's Everton is way further down the road than Howard's Everton was after two and a half years at the helm.

Not that anyone wants to listen to anyone saying Rome wasn't built in a day :(

I mentioned it earlier, the problem is fans want instant success, and it doesn't work that way unless you have a bottomless pit of money, and even that doesn't guarantee instant success.

What i can`t understand is people thinking JUST replacing the goalkeeper is a panacea for all our defensive problems.
I fully agree it`s what needs to happen but it`s only the first step of the journey.

Spot on mate.

What's called for here is calm backing for a manager and his team within touching distance of the breakthrough.

Steady Eddies and not Nervous Nerys's are called for now.

It won,t but defending crosses and set pieces as well as looking at your GK options plus game management might get you most of the way.

Don't really think we demand instant success. But I was 3 when we last won a trophy and every season that goes by certainly increases the frustration and impatience. Like it or loathe it, but it's how modern football is. We want at least evidence we are on right track but I feel the opposite right now with the defensive side of our game in freefall.
