Roberto Martinez discussion

Lads, go and get some Horlicks, and say good evening to your respective ladies....this thread will still be going round in everlasting circles tomorrow, the day after and forever more. The Horlicks won't be, and the ladies neither.

My missus is away. I've drunk the house dry and no more bevvy  and got insomnia.

Odd that there is no mention in the article about how many goals scored. But he likes the 'you score two, we score three' attitude to football from Leicester even citing how many goals scored and conceded.

.

Yes, because they tend to get it the right way round.

I've never seen someone get themselves as confused as you do, you defeat yourself with your own points, it's really funny.

;) Keep it up lad, You're doing a wonderful job. Oh it's you, just realised. Now that is funny. Hahaha.

Playing 4-3-3 will solve all our problems, Martinez has a 100% win ratio with that formation.

You pulled up an article from the 29th December. The article tells us we have won 6 out of 19. Yes 6. I thank you and the hack for telling me something I already know. In the article where does he point out what we may do and what is the problem?

"At what point does the mist lift from eyes distracted by the pretty passing carousel? Are those at Goodison Park transfixed and stupefied by a studious Spanish face and articulate English in a Spanish accent? At what point do you list the talent at Martinez disposal and correctly conclude that his results just don’t measure up?" Yuk.

Odd that there is no mention in the article about how many goals scored. But he likes the 'you score two, we score three' attitude to football from Leicester even citing how many goals scored and conceded.

Yet another burnt out hack, that just loves to jump on a band wagon to hide their own lack of quality journalistic structure, discipline and consistency.

I'll help him out play 3 in the middle as we did against Chelsea and problem is solved. In fact Martinez has a 100% win record playing 4-3-3. Now that is interesting, one out of one playing that formation.
While we've had Kone Rom and Deulofeu up front it's basically been a fluid 4-3-3.

The journalist has not been consistent with his beliefs. You cannot in one article praise a manager for playing entertaining football and having the courage to embrace it and then criticise another manager for having the same principles in the next? If Leicester have a free fall in the new year will he be praising Ranieri for sticking to his beliefs?

No point, Tigger.

These guys are after Catalan blood and have taken to trawling cyberspace to find articles from what Hull had shown to be extremely hypocritical journalists whom tickle their prejudices.

I really don't know what to say.

Never before have I seen a bunch of malcontented supporters traduce their own manager, one who isn't doing all that badly as it happens, in this fashion.

The fans of other clubs would circle the wagons and defend their manager in the face of such ill informed journalistic comment.

Not our boys......they gleefully reproduce it here and treat it with a reverence usually reserved for the Brian Glanvilles and Hugh McIlvennys of the profession.

It has got to the stage where an Everton defeat is welcomed more than a draw as it gives them more excuse for feigned indignation.

And I am being generous there....I think some of them actually salivate at the thought of a defeat so as to come on here and put the boot into Bobby.

They are a funny lot and no mistake.

when jags is back, i wouldn't mind if he went 5 at the back to be honest, i can't choose who i'd rather him bench out of stones and mori, being one reason.

how you structure the rest is a bit of a mystery, Barry won't be dropped and rightly so because of his performances, but he wouldn't really be needed with all the defensive protection. Ideally you'd have barkley and mccarthy/cleverley ahead as two box to box midfielders, they mirallas and deula on opposite wings, behind lukaku. Would that be too attacking? Can always mix it up and have lennon instead of mirallas, as he'll track back more, or cleverley there instead.

We have a lot of options anyway, if he shows this as an intent to try and shore up our defence, at least it'll be a step in the right direction.

It is difficult to drop either Stones or Mori. But I think Jags needs to come back in. Playing a 5 at the back, with Baines and Coleman as wing backs. Which will generally leave 3 at the back when they bomb on and ! midfielder to stay close to the back 3. My preference is 4-3-3 the personel would depend on injuries.

Bournemouth, palace and Norwich. what should have been easily 9 points turned into 3. and instead of sitting 5th we are 11th. Newcastle away was a deserved victory but Leicester and Stoke are inexcusable which is why this December has highlighted the managers flaws. well let's hope we see the right changes made and come the end of January we may be in a cup final and pushing the top 6 or looking over our shoulder again.

That is what I don't get. Even when I no long wanted Moyes I still went and got behind the team. And if we lost it would hurt. But never in my wildest moments would I want us to get beat so I could have a go at him. I wanted us to win at all costs.

Maybe something has just passed me by in life and I've not noticed it.

There again I was always a 4-3-3 man. Spoilt by Catterick.

There isn't a big difference between the two formations though. Kone and Deulofeu are often further up the pitch than Barkley.

Barkley has been further up the pitch most of the time scoring goals and assisting. My front 3 would be Deulofeu Barkley and Lukaku with if all are fit Besic on the left Barry in the middle and McCarthy on the right.

yeah, but we were shipping goals with jags there as well. We'll concede less, but the same problems will remain. I wouldn't mind jags back and then bringing in robles and just seeing how that goes before going 5, but i just can't see it happening. If a manager like coleman, who's not achieved anything in his managerial career, can get a crap wales team to qualfiy from a tough group, with an impeccible defensive record, playing 5 at the back - it can solve Martinez' dilemma, surely?

.... oh wait, he played 5 at the back at wigan! ffs
