Roberto Martinez discussion

Could be simply that we've played City, United, Liverpool, Spurs, Palace, Leicester, Stoke at home in the first half of the season? Didn't win any of them so I'd wager they'll be putting a few goals past us away from home.

Quite simply we've played some poor teams away from home who didn't score past us. Southampton, Swansea, Newcastle are three of the poorest sides in the league currently. We lucked out v Spurs away with Kane finishing extremely poorly. We've also only played 9 league away games as well so it's not a very big sample.

Bournemouth put three past us, WBA 2, and Arsenal 2. We then limited the might of Norwich and West Ham to just throne each. So I wouldn't be sounding the trumpet that our defensive woes have been resolved on this tenuous away stat.

It's mental isn't it. Literally mental.

I'm not entirely sure I know what you're trying to imply here? Roberto definitely sees Barry as one of his best 11.

You said that Barry might have his time limited v City because he's been playing a lot. If Roberto sees him as vital then he should have managed his time in advance of the biggest game of our season.

think youve got yourself muddled up there.

i am not sure if @roydo is right , but it is possible for the keeper to have the shot covered and for it to hit the post. If that shot needed to be a fraction more to the right for it to go on then Roydo is saying that Howard had that covered.

It doesn't even hit the outside of the post - it hits the inside and we were more than fortunate it looped outwards rather than backwards into the net.

If people think Howard has that covered then they really ought to have no right posting on any keeper thread both in defence or in criticism - as imo their judgement's as bad as his (IF he's let it go - I don't think he's near enough to get anything on it, meself)

He should chuck himself in the bin, the monstrous beaut.

Even with him on ignore, you can see who you and others are talking to and the incredulity in everyone's post.

Celebrating 9 away goals in 9 games as a badge of honour.

Wow.
Is he for real.
He kept goin on about bins so much i hadn't a clue what he was getting at

I don't expect January to be a pleasant month supporting Everton. It could be our season over by the end of it, feasibly.

Regardless of what happens I still think there's plenty to play for in those final 4 months.

It'd probably be too late to make a charge towards Europe but there's still a lot of time to show the fans that he is building something worth continuing with.

I'm 90% sure he won't get sacked this summer, regardless of whether we finish 14th or whatever, but he'd leave himself absolutely no room to maneuver for the start of next season if we continued like this until May.

If I was you, I'd see someone about my mental state, tbh. You're making no sense whatsoever.

What does conceding 9 away from home give you so much to beat your chest about when we've shipped twenty at home, and currently stand 11th in the table?

We got 72 pts and didn't get a CL place FFS, so what's your point? What's there to celebrate?

Oh yeah - 9 goals away from home....Forget eveything else - all other more important statistics are irrelevant.

ONLY 9 GOALS AWAY FROM HOME, KIDS

Thanks for your concern. Less of the scumbag Tory Paxman. But whatever floats your boat.

By the way only conceding 9 AWAY FROM HOME is nothing to be sniffed at. Why have we only conceded 9 away from home? Does Martinez do defensive tactics/formations? Did he do defence today in your opinion? Did he have the right balance between defence and attack?

He certainly needs to start picking up wins mate

Thanks for your concern dude. Why is it that Martinez who 'can't set up a team defensively' can actual set up a team that has only conceded 9 away from home? Is he any good at this defensive malarky or what?

Martinez definitely has problems with defence organisation

To act like he doesn't is downright irresponsible at this point

Martinez has strengths and weaknesses, as all managers do. There's nothing wrong with that. The problem arises if he doesn't address the weaknesses, which he is yet to do when it comes to defending

Should he do so, I truly think we'll be a force in the game as our attack is fan-bloody-tastic

This was the luck we didn't get v Palace. They were literally mirror images, Kane and Davies hitting the same bits of the post Lukaku did. Probably gained us a point.

Strange.

It didn't loop inwards because it hasn't hit far enough to the right of the post to deflect inwards.

i dont really care, but it is 100% possible for a keeper to have a shot covered AND for it to hit the inside of the post. I dunno how you can state otherwise.

Serious question mate are you drunk.
You seem to be ranting and not making sense

Never said "He let it go" ffs. I was saying that if it hadnt hit the post, imo, he would have got a glove on it. But apparently we were dead lucky, should have been beat, cos every single bit of good fortune that goes our way, (see above post re "inside of post"), is in some way inexcusable, and evidence that we are rubbish, but when we suffer a bit of bad fortune, that is ignored.
