Roberto Martinez discussion

Serious question mate are you drunk.
You seem to be ranting and not making sense

Just bear this one in mind Darren.

If his phantom bet (lol yer) actually came in, he actually celebrated Everton not winning.

Celebrated a home draw.

Basically makes anything he says moot at this point.

Strange.

It didn't loop inwards because it hasn't hit far enough to the right of the post to deflect inwards.

i dont really care, but it is 100% possible for a keeper to have a shot covered AND for it to hit the inside of the post. I dunno how you can state otherwise.

If he's got it covered then he gets hold of it - unless he knows FOR CERTAIN it's going wide. If he can't get hold, he tips it around the post.

He wasn't close enough to get a fingertip to it, and he didn't look like he pulled his hand away neither. He looked to be at full stretch to me.

He didn't have it covered imo.

Could be simply that we've played City, United, Liverpool, Spurs, Palace, Leicester, Stoke at home in the first half of the season? Didn't win any of them so I'd wager they'll be putting a few goals past us away from home.

Quite simply we've played some poor teams away from home who didn't score past us. Southampton, Swansea, Newcastle are three of the poorest sides in the league currently. We lucked out v Spurs away with Kane finishing extremely poorly. We've also only played 9 league away games as well so it's not a very big sample.

Bournemouth put three past us, WBA 2, and Arsenal 2. We then limited the might of Norwich and West Ham to just throne each. So I wouldn't be sounding the trumpet that our defensive woes have been resolved on this tenuous away stat.

That's not what you were saying the other day.

"like a lot of teams (those derided as frauds and long all merchants) we tend to play on the counterattack away from home and do it to a reasonable degree of success. Sit deep, two holding mids, three CBs in the back 4, midfielder on the wing, one striker, lots of men behind the ball then we break at pace. Makes it easier to defend and probably accounts for the defensive upturn. It's when the master plan comes out at Goodison that the entertainers are picked off with ease by all and sundry".

Sounds like a plan/formation that is worked on from what you said. You never pooh poohed the teams we played the other day. You were only concerned with why the 'master plan' doesn't work at home.

Never said "He let it go" ffs. I was saying that if it hadnt hit the post, imo, he would have got a glove on it. But apparently we were dead lucky, should have been beat, cos every single bit of good fortune that goes our way, (see above post re "inside of post"), is in some way inexcusable, and evidence that we are rubbish, but when we suffer a bit of bad fortune, that is ignored.
Comes to something when even you get fed up with these people mate!

They are unremitting in their hatred.

Martinez definitely has problems with defence organisation

To act like he doesn't is downright irresponsible at this point

Martinez has strengths and weaknesses, as all managers do. There's nothing wrong with that. The problem arises if he doesn't address the weaknesses, which he is yet to do when it comes to defending

Should he do so, I truly think we'll be a force in the game as our attack is fan-bloody-tastic

Did he address them today? If he didn't than he is 'irresponsible'. Did Martinez set up our team with a formation with one eye on defence? Because if he doesn't have defensive organisation then why have we only conceded 9 away from home? The best any manager of our club has achieved. He can or he can't. Maybe you can shed light on why we have only conceded 9 away from home, with a lack of defensive organisation, because it seems many people haven't a clue.

Whoa there - I've already had our good fortune out with someone else today. I've already said that luck happens at both ends, and ours came at our goalmouth instead of the other end.. Don't try to twist my argument into some sort of hate agenda, when it's a criticism.

And if he has it covered then explain why it's hit the post? A decent keeper'd either get hold (He couldn't because he was almost at full stretch) or tip it around the post if he didn't think it was going wide...Or hitting the post to prevent the rebound.

He didn't have it covered imo. I might even lift my self-imposed MotD tonight ban for the express purpose of reviewing my opinion, but from what I seen, it certainly didn't look like it to me.

You are my guilty pleasure.
You fire in so many questions at once

You know we've conceded a tonne of goals at home right?

And we're 11th?

Martinez did alright today, but he's got to do it consistently before your argument holds any water

Today was an improvement over last time out, but let's see where we are after we've played City three times

Fair enough. Missed that.

Do. I may be wrong, but when I saw it...see what you think anyrate.
