Roberto Martinez discussion

Hang on a minute. You brought up Martinez and 'defensive organisation' not me. So you are only concerned about the defensive organisation the last 3 games. That's a nice neat fit isn't it. Can't remember what the word is but it may come to me. What about Spurs away? Swansea away? Southampton away? Newcastle away? No 'defensive organisation' I suppose.

I really do like the word panacea, 'a solution or remedy for all difficulties or diseases'. It seems to me that in trying to explain difficult things about Martinez it is so easy to throw words around like 'defensive organisation'. I wonder if that is a panacea? Do me a favour, cult and deity - that is so spiritually amusing.

By the way how did we set up at Southampton to keep a clean sheet? Why have we conceded 20 at home and only 9 away?

Mate, I apologise but your lack of balance and common sense on this issue is so pronounced I just can't take anything you say about it seriously

For that reason, I feel it's pointless to debate you on it further

When you're willing to have a balanced discussion and not indulge in extreme fanboyism, let me know

I know there are certain subjects where people feel the same about me (Shane Duffy for instance) so don't take it personally. It's just pointless because of your intense dogmatism on the subject. If Martinez was good at setting us up defensively we wouldn't be 11th in the table.

Spurs away and Southampton were games where we easily could have shipped goals but Howard had his two good performances of the season to save us. Swansea and Newcastle are both tosh sides in the relegation mire. We SHOULD be keeping clean sheets against them.

We look shaky at the back and have done all season. We did defend better overall today but that's just one game. If we can keep city out for three games and defend well at Stamford Bridge, then you might have a point

Go away, calm down and come back with a reasoned argument that isn't just the same stat caked in massed hubris

So come on then @hullefc , let's see this winning betting slip of yours.

For it to have come in, you must have been delighted when;

  • Everton conceded an equaliser just before halftime - not much of a fan really
  • Even more delighted we couldn't get a winner in the second half.
Come on chap, let's have a gander at the slip.

We had europe last season though mate.
This season has not been good enough so far

It's not good enough to finish in the European places, but not too far off. We've only played 3 games less this season than at this point last because of our cup run and that's not taking into account any extra time, so it's not that much less game time (granted we won't have travelled anywhere near as much)

Either way, we're improving.

He has lost it in his bin.
He could be a while wading through them tickets

But too Doug, he's assembled a competitive squad that he deserves massive praise for.

He got it spot on today. Started with Lennon, sat the team deeper then brought on the pace at 60mins.

We should have won in all honesty.

Tactically I thought Martinez was brilliant today. shame others can't see it.

Yeah, I think most of us must have missed it watching the first half through our fingers as Spurs had 61% possession and hit the woodwork twice.

Tactically brilliant to get a draw at home. Jesus absolute christ.

We are improving one way and going backwards the other.
1 win in 8 games is dire with this squad and it can't be blamed on injuries mate

I'm not saying they didn't have chances am I? I'm saying he made us as solid as he could and we played on the counter at home. We needed more of the ball, granted but that's hardly the managers instructions is it?

Second half we had more composure and then aided by pace on 60 against a tired Spurs.

And "a draw at home". Not sure if you've seen, but spurs are one of the best sides in the league on form. Title contenders.

We...aren't.

The team that finished the game is the way to go until he buys a genuinely top class left winger.

If he plays the team that finished the game today in our next League game he may have finally turned the corner, but if he reverts back to type, then he can f*** off for me.

Having played Bournemouth, Norwich, Leicester, Stoke, Newcastle and Palace as part of that run too.

9 goals conceded away though, that's alright then.

I've just seen us described as 'tactically brilliant' for managing a home draw. Are we just going to ignore the first half then?

Some fans seem happy with draws, how our standards have slipped.
If moysie was in charge now the pitchforks would be out
