If you want us up there with the Arsenals, Man Citys etc then we would need to have similar finances. They can basically get a brand new team of class players from 1 - 11 within a couple of seasons and we can't. We have several good players but cannot be complimented with the remainder of players without a huge spend. He has improved the squad no doubt since he has been here and still looking to the future with young players being nurtured. Our good players are always there for the taking and Yes it does become a cycle but only because we are not a big club presently. Points on the board may come and may not come and you know Martinez will not sacrifice style over substance. He is attempting to get a mix and again he might of might not succeed. That is probably where the disagreements come from....some can see and accept what he is attempting and others want the quick temporary fix.

I personally don't see us being up there beating the top four consistently, I do expect us to be putting pressure on them when they slip up - something which he isn't doing right now. Im a old school type of fan, give the manager time to build a project and not a 6 game panic. He has had 2.5 years now with a squad packed with experience and talent mixed in, I expect better from the team that's all. I do believe that if he doesn't change his philosophy to suit the current moment in time (basically each game as it comes) then he must walk or be pushed. For example the Newcastle result was a win, I love a 1-0 win, but if we had lost 1-0 I wouldn't of kicked off because he tried something different, he played two wingers ! Result of that was the opposition didn't know what to do, where as every time he goes back to square one he is found wanting.

36 goals have come when we have been attacking teams with intent and pace, see geri to Romelu for example of how good we can be, then you have to look at the other end of the spectrum were the goalkeepers kicking is poor, the back line play about with it with no pace on the ball, howard - mori - baines - howard - stones - coleman - barry - McCarthy - baines - stones - forwards - lost - counter - goal conceded.

Quite literally a carbon copy every game, we are our worst enemy at times and as the manager Martinez takes the blame. Everyone saying give him until Christmas are looking for any tiny excuse for him now. I do believe if he gets past city in the league cup it may bring some more positivity but he has to sort it out at the back even it it goes against his philosophy.

That really isn't a lot for a manager who had over ten seasons. Martinez virtually doubled the transfer record.

More balance to the team, attacking wise his refusal to drop McCarthy or barry would be fine if we had the fullbacks bombing forward like the 13/14 season, because he plays one winger it leaves us vulnerable down the left, he is basically reducing our threat down the left so the opposition can hit us down that side whilst defending our right hand side to basically leave us struggling to break teams down.

Having the right balance is key for me, having legs and power in the middle (besic maybe ? dropping barkley deeper with kone behind Romelu and two wingers a possibility ?) just showing that he has the guts and tactical acumen to mix it up would be good enough for me, id be much more inclined to lay off the gaffer if he was learning by his mistakes this way and not the current way - same team, bullet proof keeper etc etc.....

I don't think he was anywhere near ready tbh. It's taken another 4 years to start getting consistency out of him. Even now he look like he has a lot to learn.

It is the age old comment
Certain people don't like RM so unless he wins silverware he will never be accepted.
Also this comment of this great squad we have is starting to tire, we have a good youthful. Squad with potential. If you look at Spurs they have a squad that could go on to challenging for the Prem and minimum CL, we maybe there in 18mths but not ready yet.

My outlook doesn't change
There are people who never wanted him and because of this dislike there is a part of them that want us to do badly, just so they can say ...I told you so

There is not 1 fan who wants everton to do badly because they don't like martinez.
We all support everton and some think he will come good and some think he is out of his depth.
