Tactics were perfect, the players threw themselves into every challenge as if their lives depended on winning the ball, and there were times when City simply couldn't live with us, we slapped them around for good stretches of the match while they never really had those periods of pure dominance, perhaps on the ball but never of space. They had to labor for everything, while we simply clicked through our gears on the attack. Think Roberto really got everything right, selections, subs, the whole lot.

And it can't be overstated just how much better we've looked defensively these last two games, especially with Besic on the pitch, hopefully Roberto keeps him in the side over the course of January and beyond. Looks like another gem in the making. Keep playing him, Bobby

Well last season I was actually fewin that Besic didnt play more games, Barry was dire and he was fit.

This season its different, hes had a few injuries and Barry has been immense, im also a massive fan of the boy Jamo, so I must admit, no real issue with his game time so far, I knew, as im sure he did, he just needs to bide his time and wait for a chance, when he got it, I think we can all agree hes staked a claim.

Tough choice for the Catalan joker, for damn sure.

Stick with Barry. McCarthy will need to up his game to get his place back.

I think they offer different skill sets for different situations, but for me, in my "ideal XI", I have besic and barry for now, McCarthy on the bench. Barry has been one of our most consistent performers this campaign, and is undroppable in his current form. And that's not a bad thing! The McCarthy-Besic midfield will have it's time, but I don't think that time is now.

No it's not, Garth Barry starts every week because he acts as the link up between defence and attack, Drops deep and is the heartbeat of the team. Only other person we currently have capable of doing his job is Barkley (In about 5 years). Barry is a seriously underrated footballer and has been most of his career, City have spent a fortune on Fernando and his brother Dinho but no upgrade on Barry in my opinion.

Regista?? Don't know what that means but obviously hasn't the quality of Xavi or Pirlo but I don't think I've ever got it so wrong with a player.

I remember when Benitez sold Alonzo with the impression he was getting Barry, thought the fat Spanish waiter was mad in the head, but I can see what he was thinking. Barry not as good as Alonzo but I could see know what he was thinking.

At the time he was a better player than Alonso, but then Alonso kicked on.

3 into 2 don't go, tough. The man who is performing in the shirt stays in until he loses form or gets injured...odd man out stays on the bench, thems the breaks.

Do I remember an article over a year ago stating that it might take Besic some time to get up to speed?
and has he, if not bulked up exactly, seeing the benefit of a Premier League style fitness regime?... even if it is Roberto's milquetoast one
