Here our new signing, Shani Tarashaj, speaks on how Martinez's reputation for developing young players convinced the U-21 Swiss international to sign for Everton over other interested teams, namely Inter and Juventus.
I think an undervalued ability of Martinez is the pull and influence he has in the transfer market. With the insane TV money making every other PL club a financial juggernaut, to have a manager that has the ability to secure signings through personality and persuasion is a massive bonus, since the playing field has been very much leveled in terms of wages that can be offered.
I have issues with how he approaches the on-field aspect of the game, though I am of the opinion that this season has shown a marked improvement over last in terms of performance(if not yet results) and being 90 minutes from Wembley should never be sneezed at. But it is off the field where he has truly shined, and it is that off-field know-how and instinct that is much more difficult to learn and cultivate than on-field tactical nuance. The John Stones transfer battle was a massive victory for Roberto and the club as a whole, and the captures of Lukaku and Deulofeu would more than likely not have happened under a different manager.
Much has been made of the upcoming summer, with fearful murmurs of losing Lukaku and Stones in one window being heard from Evertonians. Under this manager, however, I have full faith that he can keep a hold of the talented squad he has constructed, and if we do lose players, it will be on our terms, as this manager has shown he will not be bullied in the transfer market. It's a heck of a squad he's built, and I have every confidence we will finish the summer stronger than we started it, and that confidence is solely down to the manager.
Well, deserve. Does anyone deserve even 1000/week for playing a game let alone 10k or 100k? But as far as some of ours talent and ability compared to our current standing, well, you could hardly fault them for searching for greener pastures.I'm really not slating him. Only an idiot would (LOL @ those).
Just didn't think deserve was the right word. That's all.
You could also argue that given how the league has panned out, that this could go down as a MASSIVE chance missed.... Thats where the frustration appears...
I see what you're saying but I firmly believe man for man we are better than them, with 1 or 2 exceptions of course. 6 wins in 20, could soon turn into 6 in 22 isn't good enough for this squad....let's hope we have a very decent final 3rd. Although if we the Cup...I slightly agree. But the same was said of last season and the season before when at least 1 or 2 of the "traditional" top 4 were out of sorts. It's slowly becoming the rule rather than the exception. We can't just focus on the decline of Chelsea and United while conveniently ignoring the significant progress made by Leicester, Stoke, West Ham etc. when gauging Martinez' performance
I agree to a point over the players leaving, but Stones and Lukaku will be courted by the Giants in Europe. This is exactly it. I'm happy to be patient and give Martinez all the time in the world. I'm just terrified our stars won't. Some of them do deserve to be playing in the Champions League.

Even if we got a CL place these two will be off whatever, as when the likes of Barcelona come a knocking you pack a travel bag and catch the first Easyjet flight....as they may never come knocking again
RM has most probably given us the two most valued youngsters (minus Neymar) in Europe, there will be a massive scramble for these two in the Summer
Sad but true....
Totally disagree mate, to US they are the most valuable two youngsters in Europe but look around all the leagues and each one of the major ones has 3-4 players close or on a par with them as far as hype goes, and after the Europeans a few more names will spring up
Remember Lukaku had basically no interest besides from us when he left Chelsea - at least any serious interest, since then he had one relatively poor season - last year followed by a breakout year this one - assuming his form continues, Stones whilst lauded still makes a lot of basic defensive errors throughout games - and neither has the rep internationally that the likes of Luis and Suarez had - honestly think that what we value them at will be more than any team looking to buy will value them at so they will be staying put
Only caveat to that is a desperate manager trying to save his job like the fat dutchman who may just pay stupidly over the odds
No such thing as deserving what you get paid. You either work that job or you don't. The players only get paid what the market will bear.Well, deserve. Outside of Neymar name me any better young players in Europe - who are not with a massive club alreadyTotally disagree mate, to US they are the most valuable two youngsters in Europe but look around all the leagues and each one of the major ones has 3-4 players close or on a par with them as far as hype goes, and after the Europeans a few more names will spring up

In 2007, he retired from playing to become manager of Swansea City, leading them to promotion from League One as champions. He then joined Wigan Athletic in 2009, helping the club avoid relegation for three consecutive seasons. In his fourth season Wigan were relegated, but won the FA Cup for the first time in the club's history. At the end of the 2012–13 season he left to become the manager at Everton. He is huge down there.
