Roberto Martinez discussion

Don't agree with this argument though Ijjy. I wanted Moyes gone for years and people would say the same thing. I wouldn't have chosen Martinez, but I'd keep him now.

I just think it's a little rich saying 'get rid get rid' without having a clue who could do better.

With Moyes I was the same as you, I'd had enough, but had some ideas on who id have liked (Martinez was not one of them!).

But yeah. Wouldn't get rid now. No chance.

i dont know whats realistic but with the money in league atm im sure we could get someone with at least a track record of managing at a higher level than wigan athletic.
Never quite understood the complaints about "higher level than Wigan Athletic".

Be one thing if he was 65 and that is all he'd done but he's a young manager, they have to start somewhere and your comments would suggest you'd even rule out managers like Pochettino who prior to joining Spurs because they haven't managed a so called big club.

LVG has a stellar CV but wouldn't want him anywhere near the club. Wenger got relegated and managed a team in Japan prior to moving to the UK yet has been excellent for Arsenal.

well poch managed at espanyol which i would assert is a higher level than wigan - probably on a similar level to the likes of newcastle or villa.

funny thing about scouting managers, you could identify the perfect man and they completely bomb!

they have to be right for the club, Eddie howe failed away from Bournemouth, lvg faltering despite champions league medals, mourinho almost went from first to last, Rodgers almost won the league, ranieri not had greatest success but had a team top at Christmas, remi garde highly spoke of, mclaren won trophies, Hughes wrote off after city and qpr etc

all examples of managers fitting (or not fitting) at their clubs. Sometimes you just have the right man at the right club.
