Roberto Martinez discussion

Any manager who brings the players Martinez has to this club is clearly doing something right.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, he is the draw and Besic has basically backed it up.

Apart from Stones who I think we'll actively look to sell this summer we'll keep the lot of them for another year as well IMO.

couple of ok results and the heat is temporarily off - again. sorry not having it from this muppet any more - too many times he's tightened up for a bit then slipped back into old habits when he thinks no ones looking.

He's too nice to drop people, Besic should start and Robles should start and also the addition of another class attacking player will allow him to tighten up a bit

Not disagreeing with you that players want to play for Martinez, but I believe the PL is a bigger draw than any manager. You only have to see the good players who'll go to basket case clubs to see that. Everton is a massive draw with or without Martinez and is the pinnacle of most players careers.

He sold Eto for being a bad apple around the place, he chused Distin who was finished, he's dropped Mirallas against the wishes of many fans.

It's something that's been said about him before he came but he certainly hasn't been that way since he got here. He's just not dropping the people you want him to.

Just watched his presser, was more open than usual. Who was the Journalist that asked the questions in the beginning?? Martinez didn't seem to happy to be asked about Howard again.

McGeady/Gibson seem to be going on loan??

He certainly didn't rule out anymore incomings.

Dropped Lukaku last season too. Lukaku is quoted recently as saying it made him look at himself and improve his game.

There was a puditry session on TV the other day(might have been Sunday Supplement) which put the point/opinion over that some top players are wary of coming to the Premier League for a number of reasons, despite the top wages. The intensity of the game here, the physical aspect of the game, and the number of fixtures to be played were cited as turn offs for a number of the really top players. So while its true that our league has great appeal to many, there are many players in particular who prefer staying in Europe.

Some cheeky little bit of popcorning about Yarmelenkov as well. 'That is the quality of player we would be bringing in, if we were bringing someone in'.........

Not sure if Everton is a massive draw, there are 6 clubs who are without doubt a bigger draw than us, and there will be another 3 or 4 that will run us close.
As for players pinnacles, I guess the likes of Osman and the Hibberts of this world it will be, but the real class players move to the richer clubs
