Roberto Martinez discussion

All being let down by some old fella in goal.
In part yeah and frankly I wish Martinez would give Robles a proper go and drop Howard but I bet he darnt because I bet when a few more goals get conceded it would instead highlight the fact that actually our defence isnt quite the finished article either. That and the fact that perhaps mentally Robles wouldnt cope just yet with the tattood feckwitt masses calling him a useless tit at every opportunity....

The answer to those questions is an adequate GK, no more than that...as we've seen in the last couple of outings. It's not a systemic thing; it's a personnel thing. He needs to cut the cord on Howard.
I don't agree. Some of the capitulations were down to our outfield (Stoke/Bournemouth) as much as Howard. The defending that led to the Man City equalizer was hopelessly naive. I do think there is a systemic work about positioning and respective roles in attacking sequences that needs to be addressed. We often end up with 10 men all trying to score. It's exciting but vulnerable to the most basic of counter attacks. Have always been and continue to be a Martinez supporter, but fixing the defense involves the goalie, our back four, and our defensive midfield. I was encouraged by Spurs and by Man City that we are "tightening" up and I want to see more evidence of it in what is going to be a really challenging January.

And as for Besic, hes just playing the game, blow smoke up the utter frauds anus and get in his little pick clique.

Imagine ANY other Premiership team would have bid for him, can just imagine him turning round and saying "NO, I want to stay in Hungary and earn 50p an hour, I refuse to join any other team in England than the 1 Roberto Martinez manages."

Its starting to get almost cult like this.
As much as you want to tear people's speculative defenses of the man down it just doesn't do much for you when you make statements like this which are just as speculative.

We all know he has to do better in the league. He knows we have to do better in the league. Can we all not just sit on our hands regarding this thread til the end of the season and then see what that brings? Even only doing well in the cups could guarantee us European footie and might be enough to persuade some or all of the young stars to stay.

Saying all this I also have to bring you up on the point that there might not be the list of clubs you purport to be after our players. Of course we can see how good they are but for the value of their age and potential they might not be a part of the teams transfer plans that could actually afford them and they may choose other less expensive options to fill their squad deficiencies.

As Besic said the other day: "I only came here for Roberto. It's just a rainy city that gets on me tits. If Roberto goes, I go"

Yeah because clubs all over Europe wanted Besic, i wonder if Alcaraz and Kone said the same when they were at Wigan.

Players just want more money......end of.....now get over it......and move on.....perfect

Lets all hope Roberto can move on, before the players do......

No mate, in the Summer, when Rom and John are getting offered 200k a week and the chance to play in the CL and win trophies they will both turn round and say "NO Barca/PSG/Bayern I will only sign if you hire Roberto Martinez."
and then we'll finally be free of Martinez and Big Dunc can come and fill the team with hard working local lads that spend 90 minutes kicking the opposition off the park, but at least they'll win every 50/50 they go in for. What a season that'll be.

If a group of lads on a football forum can see how good our players are, any scout worth his salt could spot it.

I agree, in terms of Lukaku, his price must be approaching 50m, theres not many clubs in world football that could pay that, coupled with the fact that hes not a "name", most teams might look at other options.

But if theres not scouts from all over Europe putting pieces of paper into their clubs with the names of Stones and Lukaku on, something is very wrong in the world.

My point was, Martinez, under the current Board, wont be sacked before his contract expires in 2019, unless we lose more than the 6 on the run we lost last season, im willing to bet anybody, any amount of money that we will lose Stones and Lukaku before then.

But you can see even earlier in the season that the back four look more settled with Robles behind them.

Overall TH has been one of Everton's better GKs. A very good shot stopper in his prime. However, he's a liability now and he's too set in his ways to adapt to a more demanding keepers role of commanding his area.
