Roberto Martinez discussion

I didn't think you did, just joking really. Martinez frustrates me, he's great at loads of parts of the game and how he handles the youth etc, and he's good in the market too, but the bits he's bad at (like not dropping Howard) drive me mental.

Well we as a fanbase did spend most of last season claiming Barry was finished, so maybe he does know best.

:hayee:

Which is it though? El Fraudo OR Must do better? The former suggests there is no hope of him doing better because he is a complete charlatan and incapable of improvement. At this point, I'm finding both extremes ("he's the second coming"/"he's a clown") increasingly detached from our current reality (young squad with lots of potential; some great acquisition along with some duds; great attack; crap defense; in the box seat of the semi-final of league cup; clearly underperforming in the league). In other words, it's a genuinely mixed bag and most sane supporters find it hard to unequivocally support or lambast him.

If a group of lads on a football forum can see how good our players are, any scout worth his salt could spot it.

I agree, in terms of Lukaku, his price must be approaching 50m, theres not many clubs in world football that could pay that, coupled with the fact that hes not a "name", most teams might look at other options.

But if theres not scouts from all over Europe putting pieces of paper into their clubs with the names of Stones and Lukaku on, something is very wrong in the world.

My point was, Martinez, under the current Board, wont be sacked before his contract expires in 2019, unless we lose more than the 6 on the run we lost last season, im willing to bet anybody, any amount of money that we will lose Stones and Lukaku before then.
That's not a very brave prediction though as by that time is there anyway any of us see (realistically) that we'll be challenging for the CL title? I'd hazard a guess no and that'd be the only way we'd keep them as if they keep progressing at their current rate there's no chance of keeping them till then unless we do become a miracle.

In my opinion Roms price if he continues his form this season is more in the 60-70m range (add ons included) as well as Stones being near the mid 50s especially with the current financial climate.

In my thinking I'd be very surprised to see any non English team paying that for Stones besides Barca and I doubt they do (obviously I've no idea) and with the way Chelsea and Utd are going this year I'd be surprised to see them qualify for the CL so that narrows it to Arsenal and City who could afford him with CL and I doubt Arsenal would pay the fee we'd ask so I'm simply worried about a City raid of Stones/Ross and PSG/Bayern (only ones I see needing a Rom type player, and Bayern only if Lewandowski leaves) bid for Lukaku. Barring those scenarios I'd be surprised to see any of them leave dependent on our finish to this season and how much of a fuss they raise.

Scouts/kids/grannies/everyone can see how good they'll be but it doesn't mean they will stump up the cash.

I mainly call him El Fraudo and El Coco cos everytime he opens his mouth the words make me laugh.

I think the current squad, even with Starfish in goal, should be challenging for the top 4.

This season.

Not in 5 years when they mature, not in 7 when they are at their peak, right now.

Thats my only current gripe.

I got laughed at on here for wildly suggesting that we replaced him in the summer with Slaven Bilic before he went to West Ham.

Thats cos Billic is an utter rat and even if in 5 years he turns out to be a SAF/Jose hybrid, I dont want that utter vermin near my club.

Lets see where West Ham finish, lets see how long he stays and lets see how West Ham move forward.

The list of Flavour of the month managers is endless.

Moyes left an aging team. Roberto needed to have players ready to replace Distin, Osman and Pienaar.

The fact that he has been able - and willing - to introduce Stones and Barkley and sell Fellaini has allowed him to spend money on McCarthy and Lukaku. But we are hardly big spenders in the Premier League.

Not sure many people think hes done badly in the windows mate.

I personally think hes done utterly superb, few misses here and there, but on the whole, a superb job.

Its no good having a Bentley and driving it like a Fiesta.

He's an utter rat that's got a team with James l Collins, Mark Noble and Nikica Jelavic to 5th place though! Martinez is underperforming, I hope he becomes the flavour of the month manager that we all desperately crave.

Season ends in May.

They wont go anywhere if Bobby goes, cos by the time he gets sacked, they will have already gone.

I dont want him sacked, ive never wanted him sacked, I simply want him to get better at his job.

He doesnt get unconditional support from me, thats something he has to earn.

That's all sound mate. I know you go the game.

How about curtailing all the various usernames etc that support the kopites, yet use online anonymity to claim themselves as blues? It's giving far too much credit to the KKK to suggest that they wouldn't masquerade as blues.

3536654767567 million people online claiming to be blues. Not one of them has ever infiltrated GOT and not got banned though?!

I'm always on the lookout for them. It's a cert that the sad little scrotes will turn up here with their blag personas. Anybody who thinks otherwise is giving far too much credit to the integrity of the interweb.

Anyway, love you though. Pull a sausage roll out of your arsehole for me please.
