Roberto Martinez discussion

I was a vote for polling sake. I've stuck my neck out against the majority enough to prove that I will say what I think. This is no different. I have said for weeks now he needs to be doing better, I've also praised him for certain performances, vault me on that....if you're playing fair of course.
I suppose it's all about perspective and timing. In December I'd have agreed with you, but with a little patience we've arrived at January;

Decent point against Spurs, beat Man City in the first leg of a cup semi final, won a potential 'giant-killing' FA Cup tie and have drawn with Man City in the league at their gaff, stopping them scoring at home for the first time in months.

Of course, I'd like consistency, and I'd like January's form all the time, but maybe we've picked up, maybe the defensive frailties (out biggest downfall) are being addressed.

One win in 8 now - clearly it's time to move on from this joker. second half last night was ridiculous - on that showing can't see how we can keep them out in the second leg.

Hi Kev, can you answer the question i asked you the other week that you ignored on about three threads you moaned on, WHY do you never post straight after we win a game only ever after we don't?

Some may say you have an agenda, some may say you only like to come here when we haven't done well, which would be very strange for an Evertonian, i can understand closet rs fans who have infiltrated the forum pretending to be blues who do that, but for a good blue to do so seems very very strange?

All true but I think the problem lies a bit in the mentality of this team. Not good enough to consistently beat the smaller teams but good enough to avoid defeat against a top side. At no point against Spurs, City (league) United, Liverpool or Arsenal did I think we were going to win. Even the parts of the games we played well there was just always a sense that whatever happens we're not getting the win not even nicking one. This means that all those frustrating draws to 'lower' sides are just compounded by the fact we never pick up an unexpected 3 points at a big ground. Too many draws even if the defensive performance was far better. How does he change it? I don't know, drawing too many games has been an Everton trait for about 20 years not just a Martinez problem.

Posted straight after the palace draw praising the players performance

Don't you see how for a few of those at least it could be your mentality not theirs?

What does that mean? Are you criticising me for sticking to my guns? Would you prefer I be fickle?
Oh you are fickle no doubt about that

Yo choose not to go to games due to you dislike for RM, but if we get to Wembly you will be there

I think that can be called fickle

Got his tactics pretty much spot on tonight. City huffed and puffed a lot but, because we were solid defensively and Howard had a good game, they didn't cause us all that many problems.

A few people there tonight were moaning about the fact that Mirallas didn't get on the pitch, but, for once, I think that was the right call. Bringing Kone on was a bit weird though.

9/10 for the manager tonight.
I thought Kone was coming on for Lukaku as he may of been struggling from the knock he picked up last game.
At best I thought he may of wanted a player on who could hold the ball up and ease the pressure on the back 4...just my thoughts

I've been pleased with the last few performances and I don't think it's any coincidence that we've improved since adding more balance to the side with Besic and left sided players who allow us to keep our shape.

I'm still not convinced that he's had an epiphany though, we've seen him shut up shop against the big sides before (for all the talk of a change in mentality our performances away at the better sides are very rarely any different to they were under Moyes), it's whether he's willing to keep the same structure against lesser sides or whether we'll be back to gung ho madness when we play Swansea in a couple of weeks.
