Roberto Martinez discussion

Is their no part of you that worries we aren't going to see the fruits of his labour due to our woeful form? I mean I'm now coming to the point where I'd be amazed if Lukaku and Stones were here next season. Even Martinez was quoted as say that 'Cups won't be enough to keep the stars, top 4 could'

Absolutely. Our failures this year could cost us Stones and/or Lukaku.

I just don't see how we can have this many young players all at once and think we are going to be consistent. And as we all know that's the only way we are going to finish top 4 - being consistent over 38 games.

Because as a collective they aren't there yet, it means the big clubs will circle and attempt to cherry pick. There is nothing we can do about it imo in the short term.

Let's say though that we only lose Stones. With that money he brings in a top notch playmaker and a new keeper. I think we'd see further improvement and a higher finish. Top 4? Maybe not, and then we may lose Lukaku. With that he will probably service the signing of a striker or two. Then, at that time, we will still have Barkley, Besic, Galloway, Garbutt, Funes Mori and Deulofeu all with another 80-100 games of experience and maturity.

Top 4 could then really be on. It might not be.

But I'm willing to wait and find out.

Just me though. I actually think a lot of your points are understandable. I just think the reasons for the shortcomings are more understandable than what you give credit for.

Hooray, somebody who can see it from both sides. You have posted exactly what my thoughts are, however there have been occasions when Roberto could of had a massive influence on the outcome of games and he has failed to act " Stoke, Bournemouth " If he has learnt from these games, then the future looks bright

Bingo. And I think he has. I'd label the way we played after Coleman went off vs City as very mature. Kept the ball and kept it moving, positively.

I just really want to put up a fight. You know? I mean 1 win in 8, no wins v teams in the top half of the league, not beaten a team outside of the bottom 3 since WBA, I could go on, all this with this talented squad, if a little inexperienced (@mkrudden ).

Aye, I don't think any success in the world will let us hold on to Stones, but any improvement in our chances of holding on to Lukaku, however small, by making a genuine CL tilt would absolutely be worth it. But I fear he was off the minute he signed up to that agent anyway. I do think this season could very well be viewed as a giant missed opportunity when we look back at it in a years' time, but Martinez can spot a player and I have faith he will reinvest wisely. Despite Stones being the better all-round player, Lukaku will be much harder to replace.

I'm trying to stop the long posts but it's hard. I never swerved Lukaku leaving, I didn't mention it cause I don't think any of our other top players are going anywhere. Bobby will talk them all in to staying.

Half our dressing room never walked out when Moyes left because virtually all of those he left they won't play any higher than Everton and the ones who will, like Stones and Barkley, couldn't get in Moyeseys team. Right now it's full of potentiol superstars who'll have a lot of clubs after them.

You don't judge a managers at this stage on results unless there dangerously bad, it's only 1 aspect of the job when they're in the building stage. Martinez is doing an outstanding job in every area now bar the league positions although there's still half a season to go. Results should be better, which everyone admits, but most can clearly see the green shoots are there and this team is very close to taking a huge step forward, it's only a matter of when not if.

It changes all so quickly as Evertonians should only be too aware from when we last had a squad as good as this. Leicester were in the relegation zone this time last year and Chelsea were already about to be crowned champions, it can and will change that fast.

In the meantime let's see if Bobby, who's a proven winner, can pick us up a pot for the first time in over 20 years.
I'll keep this short then.

I'll be amazed if they all stay. Utterly stunned, Lukaku is worth debating as Strikers who score the goals he is whilst playing up on his own are as rare as Rockin horse poo. He will be a major target, and his agent isn't ideal for Everton.

You mentioned that results can change quickly, and used a very valid example to prove that, I have been consistent in saying that I have no stance, if they do, my whole POV collapses instantly, with no come backs, no quick wit, no 'yeah buts' if results pick up.

You can enjoy the results and the fact you'll be able to say 'I told you so'. Their will also be a marathon of Vaulting. But in the mean time everything you're saying is opinion, I'm sticking to the stats. One opinion I will offer up/agree with you, is that this is a very impressive squad he has built, no doubt about it.

I 100% agree with all of that.

I think its the other way, personally I think Lukaku will move this Summer, while Stones might consider staying.

Besic has been a major factor in this as we have more bite in midfield. Also the team in general looks better balanced with him in it
Totally agree. I think the key for him is maintaining the form he's showing. He really has added that bit of bite as you say.

We need to be prepared though for him having a slump or him being a little naive. Its totally understandable.

He has looked very impressive though and according to he himself, the manager has been instrumental in helping him perfect his undoubted abilities.

pfffff

youll be singing it into some strangers ear down the boozer whilst laughing hysterically and crying uncontrollably after Bobby wins us both cups and gets 4th place.

you love it and you know it

Bobby is boss
He does that this season I'll get

'Bobbys boss'

I think Lukaku's a very clever lad. I am sure there will be loads of interest but Everton don't sell low and paid a lot for him so it's going to take a mammoth bid to buy him, I mean ridiculous IMO, however I'm sure clubs will pay it.

My point is that I think Bobby will convince him to do another season and don't risk disappearing off the map again like he did at Chelsea. It's still going to be a big risk going some where that doesn't suit him just yet, he's still young and got loads of time for a big move and I'm sure that the trust Bobby has in him and the freedom he gives his players alongside the squad he's building and will continue to build it will be a strong and exciting pull.

Lukaku's not soft and he's a very confident kid, I'm very confident he'll like another season under Bobby playing alongside Ross and Del who's sole jobs are to provide him with bullets.

I also think Bobby is taking the Athletico approach of selling big and spending big so any players we do sign if we sell Stones will be really exciting, he backs his judgement on his key players and fills the squad out with frees or loans.

Fair points mate only one I don't agree with is where you said Lukaku could go off the map again. All things considered including fitness (Aguero) he walks into every team in the league. The Real Madrid transfer ban could be a late Christnas Present, although Zlat leaving PSG could screw us, all pie in the Sky but he isn't going to be sitting on anybody's bench. He's beyond that now, like I said earlier we are the 11th most creative team in the league and haven't had a penalty yet and he's the leagues top scorer.
