Roberto Martinez discussion

Villa deserve everything they get though!

For various detailed reasons. I've got history there.

I think some of our fans need to think about - supporting the team and not criticising for criticising sake.

My view is - I'm desperate to see our Everton players show FORM.

Play well and win.

Thats how simple I view it as.

@davek
yeah villa as a club do, and based on how they act their fans do. regardless players don't deserve personal abuse (with no mention of their play) based on footballing form. if they want to scream at the players for how crap at footie they are, that's all well and good. No need to mention their families, ill health, etc though

Having actually met Tim Howard some of the stuff being reported is totally OTT.

He's been out of form but given there are some absolute TEDS that sit and shout rubbish when our players are trying to concentrate its not surprising there's been an odd reaction.

I'd of dropped him for his form at some points this season.

However the personal abuse you see on twitter and the like and the comments I see fill me with incredulity.

Its like some people's football gene's been suddenly switched off and they can shout stupid things.

Proper BAWK. @davek

Have to disagree there mate, shout stuff when he's trying to concentrate? deary me it is a footbal match!!!!!!! not a confessional box

it is surprising watching a senior player with 400 odd games react to our own fans. Its part and parcel of the job got to rise above it. It further alienates himself from the “teds” and increasingly the rest of the match going fans.

I blame Moyes. Seriously. His corrosive culture still has a lot of people in its thrall. Moyes' teams served up rubbish most of the time, but what they didn't do was expect the crowd to be patient while space and movement prompted fruitful moves. The direct play became our hallmark and everything since then has seemed like we're being too cautious in our approach. That leads to frustration from fans who have no conception of what a proper football team looks like...and then the abuse begins.

I think its the 'ME ME ME' instant gratification culture.

We're having a few issues in the league and conceding. Lack of form.

Its something I think we can sort in the second half of the season.

The fact remains. Most normal Everton fans won't be screaming abuse.

Most normal Everton fans just want to see our players play boss and win.

The one's saying they hate Howard. They hate Martinez they hate hate hate.

They will claim they're the worlds no1 Everton fan the next week. :dodgy:

Well we've conceded a corner. You as an Everton fan don't scream at our goal keeper abuse do you?????

Thats the point.

Its a football match. Not a UFC fight.

You're supposed to be supporting the team

I think it's changed with the advent of technology and the fact that now people on twitter can throw up garbage at them all day and they could actually see it all. Think it's cumulative rather than just a few moments in the game.

I know I used to see stuff on twitter all the time.

I've met or know several professional footballers. They honestly don't deserve some of this stuff. Particuarly the one's I know.

I'm sure Howard himself knows he's not performed at points. Imagine his frustration. With himself.

A football season is a marathon not a sprint. There's time to pull things back.

People were trying to equate Martinez with Brendan Rodgers.

There is a big difference. Martinez doesn't throw players under a bus!

@davek

A lot more differences than that and those that seriously draw comparisons (strictly in a tactical sense because personality wise they appear extremely different) seem to me to be stretching things more than is warranted. Not sure what Rodgers was doing before Swansea but I'd be interested to know if he simply copied RM's foundation there.
