Roberto Martinez discussion

Haaaaa.....y'think, kinda of insulting that by implication really? What t'do eh? Should I do as you & REPORT my 'offence' at such a comment and then, as you, flounce off in m'nightie too...?

Nah.

It's funny, you & your ilk, you simply will NOT see fault in the man will you, it's a blind-spot almost, papered over by talk of building & the future an' all that kinda thing. But do tell...how big will the future be when the assets we have now have offed elsewhere because mid-table mediocrity isn't really 'doing it' for them?

What are the prem stats again? Would you like me to tell you?

Oh, and here's a thing too....did their goal count? Thought so. So not 'illegal' eh? It's a goal.

In fact it's their third.

And we were winning 2-0, yes?

Compare the cost of the 2 squds.

Look at the quality of their team and their manager.

Would you not have been happy with an away point before the game?

Clearly their last goal shouldnt have counted and we can point fingers at howard again but im not sure why youre going mad at the manager...its illogical.

...so you're nailing your colours to the mast that they'll get top 4?

Of course they will get top 4 mate, they beat the teams the are suppose to with regularity and very rarely lose games, so who do you think out of the teams 11 points+ behind are going to catch them, go on nail your own colours to the mast? ;)

Can't blame the defence it's down to martinez AGAIN sticking blind faith in that clown Howard. Once they scored our arses dropped. The ref cost us but martinez and his stubbornness are killing us, Southampton are now above us and they have lost about 4/5 more games ffs.

I have huge doubts over his defensive capabilities, but Roberto is getting some absolute shaftings from offiicials. He's had some real tough jobs to lift the players after setbacks too this year, with today being no different.

Come on mate...you CANNOT legislate for some nobhead ref throwing a point to Chelsea.

That's not getting laid at the manager's door as far as I'm concerned. I'll leave that to the manager's haters.

Christ lad, I've moaned about the ref on this thread and on others. I'm not blaming Martinez for the third goal.

You can't blame the ref for us soiling ourselves at 0-2.

Like @davek said city arsenal spurs and united will all catch leicester i think as well.

however i think it will be the last 6 games that they freefall with injuries and tiredness due to a small squad.

city arsenal and spurs are pretty irrelevant, but you think that this united side is capable of overhauling a 12 point gap in the last 16 games? seriously

I can't blame Martinez for this. He's not on the pitch defending. You can go on and on about being open but the same ones complaining about that are the ones who complained about Moyes being boring and unable to get goals. The ref got it completely wrong today, went a minute over and Terry wasn't even close to being onside. The players panicked late and so did the refs. Oh well, time to move on.

This is another thing that gets me, Dave.

The way some of these guys go on about wanting winning football even if it is dull suggests twenty or thirty years of title and trophy laden seasons where the winning was all that counted.

That they had been raised on such a diet.

And I could accept that argument wholeheartedly if the current Keystone Coppery, sublime fantasy football and sheer unpredictability of our current team wax indeed following on from such a fertile trophy garden.

But it is thirty years almost since we were Champions.

Twenty years and change since we won a trophy.

For the most if that time we have been crap.

In fact, who am I kidding Dave?

In 45 years of going the match it has been mostly unsuccessful seasons.

Most of it spent in or around mid table.

Interspersed with the odd good cup run like in 1977 or 1995 or 2009.

And of course three or four magical years in the mid 80s.

Like most Evertonians my lifelong love affair has mostly been seen out in nondescriptery.

Dull league campaigns......dull results.....dull football.

And I am here to tell you and any other bugger who us interested that if we are to bump along in mid table then far better to play football the way Bobby plays it rather than the Walter Smith way.....or the Billy Bingham way....of the Colin Harvey way.....or the second two comings of Howard way.

Dave, as you must sometimes despair of repeating to the Doubting Thomases on here......we are almost there.

The last four games we have remained unbeaten against City twice, Spurs and now Chelsea.

And as we all know, the ref robbed us today.

Wembley here we come ;)

Viva Les Entertainers :pint2:
We have a very good manager developing a very good team. Even the critics on here know it. There's some desperate to get Martinez shut down before he turns this into gold.

I pity them. I pity the twisted logic they've saddled themselves with.

Ask them who could come in and get this attacking football, 2 losses in 16 games and a game away from a cup final and they STFU because there isn't anyone...and they know it.

Lol.

...I think you have to look in the context of a number of games this season. The number of goals we've conceded when in dominant positions can't be down to bad luck. I know it's frustrating but we have really good players.

Well, weve missed Jags,Baines and Coleman for a lot of the season and McCarthy being injured as well as besic didnt help.

I put it down to the keeper and also (and this is just my opinion and 99% wont agree) not being able to have Besic and McCarthy together rather than barry as i think they would make us more dynamic.

Also of course the players are young and adapting like mori...

This is also a weird season as lots of teams have improved. It means we need time to develop a settled team with experience.
