Roberto Martinez discussion

Needs to learn some lessons quick. The obsession with Howard raises huge concerns about his judgment that need rectifying. Likewise the favouritism towards championship class players (Kone, Osman) when international class alternatives are available.

I'm just happy that he's nowhere near the nets in the cup competitions. Pretty much all I'm arsed about are those cups. At least we stand half a chance with Robles in there.

Before the match i would have taken a draw

Having seen us play away for the 2nd time this season we again played well. The improvement from this season to last is night and day. The results aren't coming. And the decisions of the ref doesn't help

Before this game Martinez has shown he can grind out results. Well let's take this anger and grind out a few wins. He's built a superb squad and got incredible performances out of players deemed surplus or not good enough. We have to make it count now

6 points off west ham, 9 off spurs. The middle order are taking points out of each other. If we can just get a few wins together we will be in a better situation

I have seriously had my doubts but that performance shows me the team and desire are there. Mike Jones though...

That's the problem, he's close to a side that can do good things. Just needs couple of small changes, but those changes are so blatant it raises questions on judgement.

Martin Oneil, another illustrious name to add to the list of potential successors alongside such genius's as Gary Monk and Tony Pulis

Don't forget Steve McLaren and Mark Hughes.

After an evening of quiet reflection, I have come to the conclusion that people on here are completely demented. We were a couple of seconds away from Martinez receiving effusive praise and, were it not for a ghost minute and a Ray Charles running the sidelines, he would have received it.

When did we accrue such an army of self loathers? Yes, there are times when we let teams back into a game when we shouldn't and shoot ourselves in the foot, but that match yesterday was defined a ludicrous moment of terrible officiating and nothing else. Yes, we let Chelsea back into it at 2-0 up, I was also surprised to see last years champions launch a spirited fightback at home, but we did what we had to and got what should have been a winning goal and properly defended an offside goal in time that should never have been allotted. But hey, let's lay into our players and Martinez.

We played great last night, very proud of the lads.

I take your point but the amount of times we've taken a lead in games only to let the other team back in it is what's driving us all to self-harm. Let's not pretend this is just the usual moaning.

I was talking about this result alone. Anyways I get your point.

Ive said it many times before. We are a rollercoaster team atm...we are like a box of chocolades...You'll never know what you get.
Personally I believe trophy isnt far away.
We are not a rollercoaster team, you know exactly what you will get, a draw.

Its been 2 and a half years and it seems we are only going backward in that regard.

Notice also I didnt say he ought to be sacked, only that he must get better.
How exactly we're going backwards? Last year we were losing a lot and played really bad. Now we're playing great and draw mostly. You know what's the next step is for a team that's hard to beat and score a lot of goals. Have some faith.

We can mock the likes of O'Neill (probably rightly so), but who could honestly say we'd be lower in the league than where we are now with someone like him in charge?

we would be what villa are now in about 4 or 5 years time. possibly sooner with our owners. he'd make one or two overpriced crazy signings and we'd be getting relegated.

people who all want martinez out, do they seriously think we'd be able to attract players like lukaku and find deulofeu without him? his positives vastly outweigh his negatives. stop thinking short term.

Oh, he only became a manager yesterday? Great news. Give him a few years then eh and we'll be fine ;)
Of course we have to give him time. What's the other way for a club with limited finances?

5th place finish, possibly a Cup final this year during the complete reconstruction of Everton FC (from top to bottom). Terrible.
