Roberto Martinez discussion

"Howard coming out ridiculously late is down to Martinez is it?" Yes because he continues to pick him. And because he does the whole defence looks bereft of any confidence at all.

Yes 6 wins not 5 - my bad. The same as Bournemouth and Norwich and one less than Sunderland. In fact only the bottom 4 have less wins than us.

I'm not sure about a phantom minute of stoppage time. We scored and took ages to celebrate - he was always going to add extra time for that.

And yes I do blame Martinez for not closing games out in case it compromises his principles. Keep the ball, see the clock out, it's how you win matches. There's no agenda - I'm just sick of watching this talented bunch of players fail to win a match week after week.

It's not just the fact that Howard came hurtling out like a beheaded turkey. How could a side 2-0 up away from home after an hour have left themselves so insanely opent at the back? One hoof upfield serates our 1 defender and keeper? Wtf

i don't understand's people excuse of "failing to close the game out". We were hard done by by the 2nd goal taking a massive slice of luck - arguably it was coming.

But after going 3-2 up, what did we do wrong? the attacker was standing in a massively offside position. how is that us failing to close the game out? If the linesman does his job properly, we have closed the game out! I just don't get it, if it was bad defending, yes. Suppose we could have dealth with the 3 flick on's better. But the manager can't go out there and head the ball himself.

Glad to see him flip his lid today. Can never moan at a manager showing passion.
Seen to many mentions of Moyes today and shutting up shop.
Doesn't always work.
I think for once he got everything right today. Unfortunate not to see the 3 points and get a bit of praise.

we also never once got in a position under moyes where we actually went two goals up away at any of the sky 4. The rosicky goal was the only time in 11 years (44 games) we actually came close to winning. The fact we remember beckford giving us the lead at anfield speaks volumes.

we would be what villa are now in about 4 or 5 years time. possibly sooner with our owners. he'd make one or two overpriced crazy signings and we'd be getting relegated.

people who all want martinez out, do they seriously think we'd be able to attract players like lukaku and find deulofeu without him? his positives vastly outweigh his negatives. stop thinking short term.

You're absolutely right about Martinez being able to attract certain top players other managers couldnt. He also has us passing wonderfully going forward at times. Not only that but he's very media friendly and dresses well.

Sadly, he has form for conceding sh1tloads of goals through disregarding defence. He is also displaying incredible and increasing consistency in terms of failing to hold leads. Similar to when Keegan was at Newcastle really. Doubtless in years to come we'll look back on him with fondness as a "nice fella" but ultimately another wasted decade as per Moyes.

Unless of course he follows up his previous relegation with another one here..

yeah i know, our fans will get more frustrated under him than moyes, but they'll get vastly more entertained. If we're going to be a club that never wins anything, you'd rather watch yesterday's 3-3 than an 11 men behind the ball 0-0 effort with the game seemingly lasting 150 minutes.

at least we're getting in positions to win these type of games. And i actually have expectation we can win something rather than hope.

How exactly we're going backwards? Last year we were losing a lot and played really bad. Now we're playing great and draw mostly. You know what's the next step is for a team that's hard to beat and score a lot of goals. Have some faith.

2015/16: 32 goals conceded in 22 league games (7th most goals conceded - 1.46/game)
2014/15: 50 goals conceded in 38 league games (11th most goals conceded - 1.32/game)
2013/14: 39 goals conceded in 38 league games (18th most goals conceded - 1.03/game)

Compared to Moyes years:

2012/13: 40 goals conceded in 38 league games (17th most goals conceded - 1.05/game)
2011/12: 40 goals conceded in 38 league games (18th most goals conceded - 1.05/game)
2010/11: 45 goals conceded in 38 league games (14th most goals conceded - 1.18/game)

Yes, we are going backwards as regards to our defending.

It's nice for the neutral but it's not more entertaining for Everton fans. Watching us look like conceding every time the ball is in our half of the pitch is taking years off my life.
