Roberto Martinez discussion

I was a strong advocate for his getting the job and I stand by that advocacy in the face our poor start to this season.

It's bizarre that this even needs to be said.

He's behind only kendall in terms of games won out of a percentage of games played as an everton manager.

Anyone who isn't behind him based on three defeats is an actual lunatic.

We wouldn't be having this conversation if his name was Bob Martin though would we kiddalars? We'd be saying "Bob Martin you're a long-forgotten situation comedy starring Michael Barrymore, what are you doing playing a high line you clown?"

Think it's down to the manner of the defeats. I'm behind him but continuing to lose games like they have been so far would be very concerning. I also don't think anyone will be concerned if Everton wins Saturday either ;)

We need to prioritise this season. Hindsight is a great thing, but this week he prioritised Wolfsburg (Europa league) over palace (league). I might be in the minority but I would have taken 3 points against palace over Wolfsburg. We needed a win against palace as I doubt we will get any points at anfield and united. It is not inconceivable that we could be in the bottom 3 after 7 games. Last night came way down on out list of priorities, so I wasn't surprised we went out. Was disappointed once again with another lack lustre performance and the comments of Martinez after the game. If he is not disappointed there are 1600 fans who made the trip down there midweek, who are more then disappointed. I don't expect him to slate players in public as he always seeks positives from every game. But his comments post game were frankly embarrassing to evertonians and in particular those that travelled to the game.

Moyes f****d off and all the pundits said the toffees would drop, but then we raided wigan fc and we took Bobby, Bobby Brown shoes babe la la la la la.

This needs to be belting at the moment. Perfect chant. It will come. I'm sure of it. We've had bad starts to the season before and it's mistakes that have put us there. Cut out the mistakes we'll be fine.

I dunno if you're in a minority or not. But I for one disagree with you.

Europes pretty cool, we should keep playing in it.

We went four years winning a combined 4 games before Christmas not long ago at all.

I find this hysterical reaction really weird because shouldn't we be used to bad starts?

2 years of actually playing well in autumn and suddenly we've forgotten how to cope with losing the odd game early doors.

The truth is that it is. Pretty much every pundit and neutral acknowledges it, and so did most of our fans last year.
And these achievements of moyes you speak of, granted he took us to the right end of the table and through gritted teeth cos i hate the bell, i thank him, but thats not an achievment, its good work. top 4 was as a result of other teams messing up and everton being solid and scraping wins with football that give my eyes aids, the one chance he had at winning a trophy he bottled.
Some of our fans are surpassing the knee jerk straight into delusion of a RAWK scale

OK mate.

Moyes taking us from 17th to fourth within a couple years, and then keeping us around the European places for the rest of his tenure isn’t an achievement, but Martinez finishing 5th with half of Moyes squad in one solitary season is an achievement?

OK mate.

There is no knee jerking from me, I’m actually bringing some reality to the discussion here. It is people like you who are participating in exaggerated delusional hyperbole, making out that this style of play is breath taking, who are similar to the whoppers on RAWK. You will be saying “Next year is our year” next.

And anyone can do what you are trying to do with Moyes 4th place achievements. I could easily say that the reason Martinez obtained our highest points total last year is because all of the other also-rans were even crapper than usual. Or I could say Moyes had a crapper team at his disposal at the time, and therefore his achievement is more impressive.

But the fact is that we were the 5th best team last year, end of. In 2005, we were the 4th best team, end of. You can try your hardest to convince yourself that finishing 5th is a better achievement than finishing 4th, but it isn’t, and it never will be.

It was predicted by many on here last season that the remnants of the IMWT brigade were sulking in the shadows, awaiting the first opportunity to stick the knife in Bobby and say "I told you so".

They now feel their moment has arrived :)
