Roberto Martinez discussion

Jesus Harold Christ.

If you want Martinez out based on defending/performances this season you're honestly a bell end. Yes, it's been poor but come on. We've always gone out in the early stages of the league cup and we were way down the bottom after a few games nearly every season under Moyes.

It's not Martinez's fault the defenders and Howard are making individual mistakes. How can Martinez stop Howard missing a catch or Distin trying to head a ball 2 yards off the ground? We've stuffed Wolfsburg, dominated away to West Brom and been the better team for 80 minutes against Arsenal so can we not?

Should not have let Duffy go IMO. Duffy could now be in there getting first team game time and possibly striking up a partnership with Stones because I think it will be a while before Galloway can step up.
I don't think duffy would have been ready now but I would have sent him out on loan again.
I still reckon he will end up being a premiership centre half.

The two players you mention should have exercised better judgment, but moving on in the games it is down to the defence. We stuffed Wolsberg? Come on we were lucky to get a penalty and another goal was fortunate leaving two veru goos ones. But they were running through our defence, we survived thanks to Howard making some very good saves, if he had been in a similar form to that against Swansea we would have been murdered.

Mate, we went 3-0 up then just stopped playing. They didn't create many chances when the game was tight.

I felt for hibbert last night he was so bad it was horrible to watch, don't know why browning was not put on at some point

Do you not think that he would realise that he cannot cut it now and tell the Boss? Oh no could not sign the new contract when offered quick enough.

The other side of this is RM must have seen him in training and surely could see Hibbo was not up to it so why did RM pick him? Poor managreial judgement here.

We went 3 up very late on they could have had 2 or 3 themselves before then but not for Howard. How is it Howard can put a performance like that and then in the Swansea game can't catch a ball and spends time falling on his backside.

Apart from record number of points in the prem. Which most seasons wouldve seen us comfortably finish top 4.

Most amount of wins in his first 50 games.

PLaying football which all pundits and neutrals aknowlodge as being better and attractive.

Competing comfortably in games with the so called big boys, were as we once just bent over and hoped they would be gentle on us.

Treating our club and its people whether staff or legends and fans, with respect.

Talking us up as big boys instead of plucky little nobodys.

That’s great. He achieved a 5th placed finish in his first season, and nobody can take that away from him.

It’s the exaggeration that annoys me, Everton have finished 5th before, very recently in fact, under David Moyes, a manager that actually managed to break the top four with Everton.

In fact, half of the team Martinez inherited consisted of players recruited by Moyes. Yet we are being told that our team is now so vastly superior to what we had under Moyes. At best, I think that is an exaggeration, at worst I don’t think it is true. Martinez inherited a mid-table premiership side, and we remain a mid-table premiership side. The superlatives being used to describe his style of play are nothing short of hyperbole.

I really hope Martinez can eclipse Moyes ‘achievements’ and take us beyond mid-table. I really do. But hopefully he can do it before he is poached by Barcelona.

BMG, Howard had pulled some great saves before then, the defence was clearly porous in allowing the shots, I think many over rate the performance in that game.

I'm not sure what game you were watching mate, second half we slacked off and they had plenty of chances, prior to that though Howard wasn't exactly troubled regularly. Are you sure you're not just exaggerating to try and fit your argument here?

I thought it was a fairly tentative performance where we didn't really get out of 3rd gear and happened to score every other attacking chance we had. We've played better and lost. I didn't feel we were ever really out of control bar a shaky first 10-15 though.
