Roberto Martinez discussion

For me, I've tried throughout last season and this one to be positive about Martinez, believing that he truly has a footballing philosophy, dream and idea of how the game should be played.

He's got a squad of very talented players, mostly with years in front of them so the potential to build a dynasty.

But, he's got us morphing into Wigan.

For the most part we play decent possession football, but we simply cannot defend.

He's been far too loyal to a goalie who is way past his best and in who, the rest of the defence appears to have little or no confidence any more.

He spoke last week about his anger and frustration over the Chelsea game and how Everton would now react in order take things into our own hands.
Well if today was the manifestation of his anger, heaven help us and heaven help us on Wednesday if/when a team like City with their galaxy of attacking options really goes for it.

There's no way in hell that Martinez can set us up to defend the first leg lead at the Etihad, and if we try to go toe-to-toe with them, it could get real ugly.

Sorry Roberto, but five home losses with a team of this capability is totally unacceptable and I for one have had enough.
Thanks for your efforts, but it's time to go, but BK and the board are too weak and inept to do what needs to be done and that is to relieve you of your position together with all of your ex-Wigan coaching staff.

If we had any real dynamism within the club, we'd be ringing Mourinho or Guardiola and offering/asking them to come and do a 'real' coaching/managing job in turning this talented and misguided squad into winners.

We won't do that and so fellow Blues, prepare yourself for a summer exodus.

Be honest with yourselves, if you were any of Rom, JS, Ross, Gerard and probably Seamus too or their agents, you too would be lining up the summer moves away from Everton and a coach who is losing/has lost the plot.

Mr Martinez , you and the whole Everton team owes the loyal supporters big time -
please make up for all our disappointments this season and do a job on Man City on Wenesday

Anybody who thinks Martinez is the right man for this job please read the story of The Emporers new clothes.

He's full of b*ll*x every time he speaks, there is no substance to him at all

There is no plan B - for example we were losing and he brings on a right back!!

How many times do we get to their box and just pass it out wide?

He's a nob and should be sacked, relegation battle here we come, f*cking over-rated one trick pony.
To be fair that right back could have won the game for us converting a chance 6 yards out and one he ballooned over the bar from point blank range. I honestly don't know how to feel about anything right now. I'm tempted to change my previous tune and gut the squad and sack (at the end of the season) him if we lose the tie on Wednesday.

haha

thats some top notch fume right there

He subbed on a very good attacking full back who proceeded to be in the right place for two chances that could have made it 3-2. Good sub Bobby. Well in. (i would say...could have won us the game....but im sure wed have conceded at the death)

For the people saying they would prefer Moyes or that under Moyes we wouldnt be in this position...

I would prefer to have Martinez as he puts out exciting teams with exciting players but most importantly can see he is building something which with a few changes and additions could seriously challenge the top 4.

For me, next season has always been the season where he will have "his" squad and money to spend with alot of outgoings...

Id rather give him that time than settle for 5th or below every year under someone like Moyes.

Mate, respectfully, why is it exciting? It's exciting because we score goals, yes....and the teams we're playing ALSO score goals? That's why it's a spectacle for the impartial. For me that's not exciting; it's a problem...

And it's a problem that's not being addressed.

The 'he will have his squad next season' bit. He's a manager, it's his duty to manage the players he has...and he isn't.

And - and again with sincere respect - where does this level of expectation attached to him come from? I GENUINELY don't get what it's based on...

The way we started the game on the back foot today was Embarrasing. Against a team who have barely won a game for months, we don't get a kick of the ball for about 3 minutes.

I watched Swansea on Monday night and they were awful despite winning. Genuinely thought even we'd pick up the three points today quite comfortably...

Just allowed them to settle into their rhythm. No pressure on them whatsoever.

We were outfoxed by alan curtis can you imagine.
Martinez needs sacking now before he inflicts proper damage like he did at wigan.
Come on bill do the right thing for once

I'm pleased he was talking of Gibson this week as I'm very worried about that midfield with both McCarthy and Besic unable to put a run of games together. Not even sure he's the answer but the difference Besic has made to the team in the past few games is going to be a big miss.

Besic has been infectious, so losing him early today is a massive worry in the weeks ahead. As others have said, we have no leaders on the pitch, but him and Mori at least look a step in the right direction.

Im struggling to see how we will get past city on Wednesday, we basically need a freak result.
