But you have to have a team capable of putting together performances to get results. Our performances this season haven't been complete in games. We dominate vast tracts of them but sometimes (most times this season) that hasn't been enough to get the three points. But that doesn't mean you dont need performance, it means you need a more complete performance (defence and attack) in order to progress with stylish football.

I think there's a time lag between performance and result, tbh. You cant have results without performance, but the reverse isn't necessarily true.

This season we've been developing the Everton football brand. We now have a discernible style of play that most neutrals outside the club identify us with. That now needs to be given a touch of steel for it to flourish and transform enough of the 11 draws we've had into wins for us to be right up the table. That comes next.

Fully agree with that. Building the style will inevitably come with pitfalls. Where I'd like to see some progress is the way we close out games and our ability to stiffle when we have a lead. I'd much rather be the team that understand the requirement to win over constantly entertaining. I've seen signs of it in games but we've been a bit naïve to many times this season. I'm prepared to be patient though.
