Roberto Martinez discussion

I don't think Martinez is doing a lot wrong to be honest. Injuries are stretching the squad and it shows the most when we've got games close together. We weren't even that bad yesterday overall. Individual errors cost us again but we still would have got a point if that penalty was given.
We are so easy to play against and the tempo is like that of a friendly.
We work so hard to get nowhere.
We play it about sideways then when the other team get back into position we either give the ball away or start to play backwards, its the tactics that are undoing us.
He has to stop playing players out of position, there is a reason eto'o has never played in midfield before.
He rightly got praise last season just as he should get stick so far this season.

The tempo was like that because the players were tired and in the case of baines/Barry not fully fit. Eto'o and Barkley weren't in there best positions because mcgeady, pienaar weren't fit enough to start and atsu isn't good enough. His options are very limited because of the injuries we've had.

Love his positivity but after a defeat I just wish he'd come out and say why we got beat, what the problems were and how he plans to address it

Yeah, he cited refereeing decisions which he doesn't often do. We were crap, like. Very slow and laboured in the build-up and very few chances created. I still wish this mask thread would disappear though, Martinez is an excellent manager and we'll be up there or thereabouts by the season's end.

The tempo has been like that all season in the premier league apart from the odd game.
Yes we have had injuries like everyone gets but he has the biggest squad we have ever had to choose from and he still plays players out of position.
An as for atsu what a waste of a signing why on earth did he sign him on loan.
Whichever way its dressed up Martinez's management in the premier league has been poor since the summer.

It was a risk free signing that hasn't worked out. Unfortunately that leaves us one short in that area.
You can't just dismiss our injuries this season by saying everyone gets them, who else has had as many key players unavailable? We've had too many for our squad to cope with playing twice a week.

I know yesterday was disappointing but it was our first loss in a long time. If we get everyone fit we could easily go on a run like we did last season.

We needed to replace Gerry and to me he wasted the loan market after excelling in it last season.
We have been hit with injuries your right but earlier on in the season when he had players to choose from he still picked players out of position.
Its not the loss that bugs me its the way we play.
We are playing too slow for this league and he can't seem to grasp it.
Last season the tempo was great and the full backs were bombing on ripping teams apart but this season we look a shadow of that and are easy to play against.

This is one of the big mysteries this season.

I thought he would have made a couple of clever loan signings to augment the permanent signings of Rom and Barry.

Which leads me to think Bobby might have been stung by the negative comments about our loanees in the press and from Arsene Wenger toward the latter part of last season when we looked favourites to clinch the fourth CL spot......and decided that he wasn't going to leave himself open to such criticism this time round.

Maybe so.
I hope he brings in a few on loan in january

I know we lost yesterday but I still think he's a good 'un. To be positive, it ended an 8 match unbeaten run - we're disappointed because he's raised our expectations again.

We're expecting to be good going forward, we're expecting to score goals. Yes, Sunday was crap but 96 hours ago we were the best thing since sliced bread for topping the EL group unbeaten with a game to spare. Let's not let a bad day at the office sour expectations - this year was always gonna be tougher.
