Roberto Martinez discussion

This is getting steadily more desperate than those who banged the drum about David Moyes' early years here, despite doing nothing whatsover for a good five years.

If you can't highlight any positive league achievement beyond something that is three years old, something is obviously wrong.
What, beyond one other completed season?

Lol.

This is my beef.

If people are so dead set on mentioning his second season, for parity it's only fair his first is mentioned as well.

This season is far from over and - even though it's been incredibly frustrating given where certain other teams are - nobody has achieved anything yet and it's far from over.

I think that works both ways.
I hate these terms but it's quicker.

When the plotters say it's a bad season we are told the season is not over yet but then the cult talk about top half finish and cup run as if they are a given.

Personally I don't think it's a given. But we're well in with a shot of a top half finish and whatever happens will happen in the cup. Can't really say we've got a decent chance of winning it unless we're in the final.

But I'm confident based on the positives from this season that we're more than capable of finishing it strongly

A more enjoyable season football-wise than the first record breaking one, btw...and 100x better than any season when Moyes was serving up his utter muck.

The Moyes comparisons are very unfair.

Moyes took a club from 17th to 4th whilst spending 10m on players
Martinez took a club from 6th to 12th whilst spending 100m on players

We cant expect Martinez to compete.

4th and a cup final.
To me they actually mean nothing unless you qualify for the CL or win the cup but as you put so much praise in Bobby's 5th place and semi final of a cup then you have to recognize these achievements.

Moyes took us to 17th in the first place. The lowest number of points in one season for 44 years. He should have been kicked out that season. He nearly killed Everton. He survived though and inflicted a culture of hoofball on the club that most fans are now only beginning to weaned off as they're dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century.
