Difference could be that Gary Linekar played for us, scored loads for us, and left us after winning the golden boot...

And actually has a bit of affinity for the club and understands what it is to play for Everton.

My (obvious) point is that those Everton legends (not some washed up never have been Everton legends like Barton and Merson) all see the potential, but the naysayers on here see doom and gloom.
