Roberto Martinez discussion

You can coach and preach tactics till your blue in the face but if players don't follow it in a game your screwed. My point was players went into panic mode and forgot how to do their job.

His substitutions caused a lot of what happened and as people have said he has had three years with this lot and they are supposed to be the best team with had in years.

the fact that it keeps happening says a lot about the Martinez and his inability to address it as much as his ability to talk phenomenal crap

Which is all fine and good except there seems to be no accountability from Martinez because he constantly picks the same ones.

But who else would you have started yesterday?

His set up was fine mate. In fact it got the better of W.Ham up until Kev stupidly got himself sent off and until Martinez decided it was time to bring on a forward who has no PL experience in place of our best player - when he had the likes of Baines and Barry on the bench who could easily have come on in that situation.

I feel your pain. Keep smiling, things will get better.

I've also got to say though mate, that this team I do think is overrated by us. It's good yes, but lacks any real leaders and tbf to RM that's something that he can't solely address. Jagielka was pathetic in that last 10 minutes yesterday. Utterly pathetic.

I don't know why people are thinking we can win the FA Cup. In our cup 'runs' we have barely beaten a Premiership team apart from Norwich and that was on penalties! Beating the likes of Dagenham and Redbridge, Barnsley, Carlisle, Middlesbrough and Bournemouth should be expected when we have Barkley, Stones and Lukaku to name just a few. We were lucky to get through Barnsley we conceded three against them. We had a great chance against Manchester City and blew it. I predict we will lose to Chelsea and then Martinez will be forced out but it will be too late I would rather we change manager now.

Beating Chelsea with a new manager like Mourinho could change our fortunes for the next few years in terms of the players we keep and the players we attract.

Last season we won 7 games at home, the lowest since 2000 - 2001 when we finished 16th under Smith. Under David Moyes the fewest wins we had at home was 8 and that includes the season he took over.

We have 4 home wins this season so far, 4! We have 4 home games left. Martinez could easily lead us to our fewest home wins since the PL started.
The man's definitely one for breaking records.

"To defend is all about the coach responsibility, and to make goal is up to the players' quality"

Obviously translated but the point still stands and is valid. Defending isn't sexy but is a necessity to every manager but Martinez.

No again you're wrong about the last part.

RM knows the importance of defending. We were superb at it for 78 minutes yesterday. What he got totally wrong was believing that a newly signed STRIKER, could do the job that Lennon had been doing so well.

Also, Lukaku bags that pen and even we wouldn't have messed it up, like.

Love that it took him two years to start working on the defence.

And by 'starting work' it means being forced to play players you didn't have in the first team because of injuries to others only to find they're actually better. Martinez didn't have the stones to keep Stones benched did he? So yes after 2 and a half seasons he's inadvertently been pushed into a personell fix which has made a slight improvement. Even now, every top flight side in Europe's major leagues have a better home defensive record than us. Good to see he's getting round to fixing that though.

And for those stats alone, he should not unreasonably expect to have his contract terminated.

This is what annoys me the most about the situation. Regardless of if it's Martinez or not, for the 'big' club that we're supposed to be it shouldn't be accepted. Other teams have sacked managers for a lot lot less.

Posted this earlier, but it's like a recurring migraine :

Hadn't even looked back before the PL started, but it looks right.

But it's progression, we're rebuilding, he still needs time. lol

Mate please stop with this?

We aren't sacking RM and getting Mourinho this week. It isn't happening.

I'd like to get Mourinho obviously but fgs you have to be realistic?

He needs a miracle

My main concern is that even if we get rid we'll have a bunch of players that mentality crumble under pressure. You look at how Klopps liverpool still look like the defence under Rodgers at times and I think that'll be the challenge for us in reversing that mentality when he's hopefully booted out.

Actually, That is right... Can't blame Martinez for Miralles stupidity. Saying that though... You never take Lennon off. He was magnificent and even a tired Lennon runs more than any other in the team. I truly believe we would have won had he stayed on. That is Martinez's failings... His subs this season have been mind boggling
