Roberto Martinez discussion

What got me was that nobody seemed to replace Lennon. Niasse seemed to go upfront and there was just a huge gap on the wing where Lennon was playing.

His decision making just gets worse and worse every week. It really is a shame because the attacking part of his game plan is superb, but you need a solid foundation and it just isn't something he is prepared to address.

His type of football would only be successful at clubs like Barça, Real, Bayern, etc. They have that much quality that defence doesn't come into it. Unfortunately the Premier League, especially this season is a monster and on their day any team can beat anyone.
Defence always comes into it, look at Guardiola's record. His management would soon be found out at Barcelona.

Spot on. Del should have came on over naisse
Or even Barry.

To throw that lad on in a game like that is just bad management. He has hardly any Premier League experience, he hasn't played for ages and he puts him on when we're down to ten me.

So many people were saying that he is terrible already, but he can't be judged on that performance.

He gets an easy ride from the media judging from his pressers, I mean has anyone challenged him on his record ?

The Echo hasn't in fact the only one to do so is Paul Merson and i don't even like that wino but he is the only one to see through the bull

je seems untouchable at the minute
The tide is turning.
Most importantly the vast majority of fans want him gone and our new owner will act in the summer

I like Martinez but these defeats are ruining my weekends and its becoming a pain in the arse now.

Tbh it doesn't bother me because I just expect it now. I just find it mad how precious people are over a manager who has done so poorly over the last two seasons.

You ask anyone what they think of Martinez outside of our club and they'll tell you his teams can't defend and he's underselling a good squad of players.

The worst part is he gave him 2 minutes against villa but put him on when we down to 10 men.

No one pointed out yet.

Allardice took a poor west ham team back up and finished mid table and west ham had the balls to get rid to get a manager in when they could see they couldn't go any further.

Hughes record at stoke is identical to martinez, record points total, semi final in the cup etc

And yet fans here still want to make up excuses as to why we aren't higher or.winning more games? Or blame it on the ref, or bad luck?

There is a pattern to everything at Everton, I hope our.new owner sees it and decides to change the pattern

Okay mate fair enough.

Personally, I feel United would be mad to promote Giggs and it wouldn't see them progress at all. Mourinho guarantees a big name for them to compete with Pep.

I just feel that the time is, if RM does leave, the summer to do so as there will be plenty of very decent managers who would come at that point.

My choices - if he did go:

- Quique Sanchez Flores - doing very well with Watford and knows how to drill a defence. Does like his teams to play football and wouldn't negate any of our attacking qualities.
- De Boer - the time's right for him to come to the Prem
- Pellegrini - ambitious but more realistic than Mourinho. Unsure whether he would be the right man to take us forward with this team however.

All that being said, RM showed yesterday how good a manager he can be. He also, ultimately and unfortunately, showed us how bad he can be as well.

That's why for me he still gets until the end of the season barring the next two games don't go totally to pot. if they do, then we may well have to look at a change in the international break but I still remain unsure as to who we could get that would guarantee improvement at this stage.

As much as it can be the manager's fault, there is also a fundamental fault with many of these players that can't be addressed by anybody except themselves.

Speaking of which, the time has to come where our experienced players such as Baines, Jags, Barry and Osman etc step up and talk to Martinez. Something needs to be done and they I think can be the only ones to drill into him and his staff what is needed for them to improve defensively.

You see if we hired a clearly superior manager then i'd be daft not to move on from martinez...

Flores -- one season in prem.

De Boer -- Not keen myself...

Pelligrini -- Have you seen his signings + hes close to retirement

Mourinho -- i like him. But hes not one to build a club. Hes a short term fix. Hed leave us with a washed out squad full of shattered 30 year olds...if he agreed to sign only u23 players for a long term vision and to build something then i could be swaywd even if the football was boring.

Thomas Tuchel gets a good press.Im keen to see how Martinez does in the summer window and see how close we are to top 4 at Xmas before judging him.
