Roberto Martinez discussion

I find it a sad day when so called Evertonians insult a sitting Everton manager in such a way, a genuinely nice man too.

They say you get the club you deserve, well if that's true I look forward to our next manager relegating us, you brought it on yourselves.

.....basically teams go to two solid banks of 4 to see games out. Full backs sit in, man mark wide players which means the CBs don't get drawn out. Ahead of that you have a solid bank of 4 midfielders. I see no evidence of that or any other system adopted by EFC when we've been in winning positions this season. Against Chelsea our RB was the furthest player forward when Costa scored. Stones was pulled wide and Jagielka left one on one with Costa. Apparent to me that we are tactically naive, apparent to me that the manager is responsible.

And in a nutshell that is basic management skills, not some crazy scientific method of football we are asking him to do.

It's not that he can't do that either eggs because it's so easy to rectify. It's because he won't do it, he is blatantly refusing not to fix the problem because he believes his way is the right way.

Fair play to him for sticking to his guns, though his way will see him relinquished of his duties in approx 3 months time and he will only have himself to blame.

sunderland, villa,Newcastle and others are the ying to this yang
Last season we went effectively September to jan with only beating 2 relegated teams on the way, thus season genuinely September to February with only beating relegation teams.

It defies belief how he still has a job! The fact it makes zero difference if we score 2 or 3 goals in a game only for us to lose anyway it draw at the very least. The fact we score so many goals is so many people's defence of him, yet very few results to go with that. The fact that west ham changed manager and shown a little bit of ambition and are now where we should be just drives that point home.

I agree to an extent yes mate.

It's the fact that - and I said at the time - that when he made that sub I just felt like it was totally un-needed and almost knew we woul dmess up somehow.

Genuinely, 5 minutes later and it'd have been fine, in my mind.

Even after the penalty miss, I wasn't thinking 'this will definitely come back to haunt us' - but after that change I was.

A sad inditement of the players as much as the manager, mind, and it's such a shame after all the good work they'd done and Martinez's tactics. That 75 minutes was honestly one of the best displays I've seen us put in at home all season.

Yes, as usual i agree with everything you say here. I've seen a lot of your posts in the West Ham thread and have little to disagree on. I like a lot about Martinez, as you know. But now comes the time when i start to doubt whether his abilities outweigh his deficiencies, and the league position distinctly points towards the negative.

One day brother you will celebrate these days as comfortably numb. You will yearn for Martinez's return but it will be too late, he gone and never coming back.
Yeah mate, I for one will be yearning for those last minute defeats, the shipping of late goals, an abysmal home record, bottom half finishes with a £50m striker on the books, and seeing a balding Catalan wearing a gilet and brown brogues looking puzzled and a bit lost on the touchline..

Que?
