Roberto Martinez discussion

Built up a great squad including some youngsters but misusing it badly at the moment. Needs to stop handing out contracts to geriatrics and midgets.
It's scandalous he renewed Osman's contract. It sent out a very conservative message. We need players breaking through, not relying on a player who tips up with a decent game every ten he plays in.

Where's the refreshingly bold manager of last season gone to?

It's depressingly safe and one paced and clueless. I see no strategy here whatsoever. No rhyme or reason to what he's trying to achieve on the pitch.

I'm shocked, tbh. Utterly shocked by the personal decline.

Same here, don't know wtf happened to RM's mind in the post season. Probably associating with Kenwright ?

To a point I agree. I always believe a manager wouldn't get to this level, without having a ruthless side to them. Press talk can simply be rhetoric.

However, his statements post match today are bordering on delusional, especially considering how poor we were.

Either it makes a mockery of the fans who actually watched the match, or maybe (just maybe) he isn't actually seeing our problems.

Some may say his rigidity with regards to tactics and 'confusing' selection (both who starts and subs who come on), would support the latter.

Basically, I think it would put the fans at ease to know he's unhappy as well with today's performance, rather than painting over the cracks.

But as you state. If its rhetoric, as I believe it i 90% of the time from these guys, then it doesn't matter a bit and isn't worth debating/discussing.

Anyway. I personally couldnt give a damn what he says after a defeat or a win.

He needs to make us more aggressive, and quickly. I'm not expecting Pulis-esque tactics but we're so weak. As a team we've made the joint-lowest number of tackles and the least number of fouls in the league. However, we get fouled the most!

The opposition know we're weak, Bobby.

I'm starting to think we've become too continental for our own good.

Great squad? Dunno about that. If you look through the squad of 16 today.... Distin, Howard, osman, mcgeady, Atsu, Barry, pienarr, Robles, hibbert wouldn't get anywhere near the squad of the other top teams including spurs. Add to that Barkley having an awful season and lukaku having the first touch of a leper and things start to look fairly bleak.

The players look tired and out of ideas, We need to pass forward quickly, Mix it up, There's a time and place for keep ball, Namely when your trying to take the pace out of the game, We do that from the first frigging whistle

exactly.

and thats why it doesnt matter a jot what is said in managers after match interviews.

Johnny Giles used to say it all the time on Irish TV, that they just talk guff, and then go in and say what they need to to the players.
I hope he lets them have it after that.
They have a great chance to put it right saturday hope they take it
